With a donation of $5000, Community Living Oakville would be able to plan more events for people with developmental disabilities, who really enjoy them. Community Living Oakville would also be able to offer more programs to fully support the people who need it most, such as more day services. At Community Living Oakville, we believe that it is important to help people who have a difficult time helping themselves. A $5000 donation would mean the world to Community Living Oakville, and the people with developmental disabilities we support, as well as their families.

Yes, volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated. Students, and people in the community are welcome to volunteer. To become a volunteer, go to the "Get Involved" part of our website (http://www.oakcl.org/involved.php), and fill out and submit the required application forms. Volunteers often assist with events, such as the annual Spring Fling dance, and other dances and fun events for the people we support. Volunteer can serve food at these events, help set up/clean up, etc.

7. Why should people support Community Living Oakville?
Community Living Oakville provides support to people who have a difficult time supporting themselves. At Community Living Oakville, we believe that everyone is entitled to the same standard of living, and having a developmental disability should not change that. We support people with developmental disabilities to experience the feeling of being involved with the community, and by supporting Community Living Oakville, you will get the same feeling.

8. How does Community Living Oakville assist people?
Community Living Oakville does a variety of things to assist people with developmental disabilities, and their families:
a) Social Events - Community Living Oakville plans events for people with developmental disabilities, which allows them to meet people, and feel a sense of community.
b) Day Services - Community Living Oakville provides a wide range of self-guided day services. Resources include music, art, and technology centres that foster self-expression, and encourage people to explore their interests.
c) Employment Assistance - job coordinators working at Community Living Oakville work to pinpoint the interests, and build the employment skills of the people that Community Living Oakville supports. Each person with a developmental disability is able to find their own career path. Community Living Oakville's employment team has a strong record of getting eager employees the job they want, and the employment they desire.
d) Residential Services - Community Living Oakville' residential supports are geared towards people, based on their needs. Supported, independent living is offered, as well as homes with 24-hour support. People can choose the support they need, and when they need it. Services can include financing, budgeting, meal preparation, landlord-tenant negotiations, home maintenance, and scheduling.
