As the summer comes to an end I'm left reflecting on the memorable moments. Finding peace and solace in nature, growing a garden, getting lost in the pages of a good book, writing exciting yet unsuccessful grants, experimenting with the arts, baking every baked good imaginable, exploring the depths of my mind through meditation, spending quality time with family and friends, cultivating meaningful relationships and connecting to the core of who I am all come to mind. It was a summer full of colour, exploration, good food, sunshine, puppies, family, deeper connections and most of all a ton of love.β™₯️

As sunflowers turn to face the sun, no matter where they are, I look forward to the upcoming months for deeper awareness and even deeper connections.

Thinking back to a creativity workshop I went to 26 weeks ago. I thought we would be discussing research and being "academic". Turns out we spent the evening exploring our skills, regrets and the integration of these to our work. Conversations were rich. We all expressed skills, hobbies, passions that we wish we had more time for because we knew of their importance to our work.

Taking this Saturday to pause and think about what I want to get out of this time - it's more creativity in my passions. Whether it be through writing, learning a free standing handstand or navigating the thoughts in my head - I just want more depth and richness in what I do. πŸ’™

We started by sharing our whys. It was amazing to have a candid conversation with some bright minds about what sparked their decision to pursue a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. We set some goals that we'll come back to at the end of the 7-week semester. For those wondering...yes we finally got down to understanding knee anatomy and biomechanics. I had such a great time and what a priviledge this position is.

Shout out to @mobhandari, Dr. Kim Ross, @simspsychotherapy, @dr.elainelewis.nd, @krystle.renee and @lifeberryrd for their guidance and encouragement!

It’s all smiles with this crew. We haven’t had many chances since the new year to get together as a team, but over the weekend we made a point to do just that. After a long, busy week at the clinic, we all gathered to talk about all the exciting plans we have in store for One Elephant and reinforce our commitment and goal to bring Integrative and team-based health to the Oakville community.

To say we left that meeting energized is an understatement. Even though we’ve become a family, we still learn new things about each other, personally and professionally, every day. I recall my last year of residency where I was gathering advice from practitioners and patients, actually anyone I could talk to, about spreading my wings and flying into private practice. The one piece of advice that I have always come back to is that your colleagues and patients are going to change your life just as much as you hope to change theirs. .

The last few months have been some of the toughest in my clinical career, yet the change has brought deep feelings of peace and gratitude. The clinic that I co-founded with @dr.elainelewis.nd, has decided to reform their business model and direction of the clinic, which includes letting go almost all of the current health care providers. Our vision was to bring to Oakville a collaborative care model in which practitioners of diversified backgrounds worked together as a team, consulting one another, respecting differences and elevating health. To practice alongside a team of compassionate, innovative and bright women has been transformative. Also shout outs to them for not always rolling their eyes at me when I ask what does the evidence say. πŸ™„

I never imagined that our time at the Centre for Collaborative Health would come to a close. I am incredibly grateful for having the experience of building a clinic and managing a fantastic and creative team. We have met some incredible people through our practices that have made us better human beings. THANK YOU! As I've said before, change is the only constant in life. As Jack Welch said "be candid with everyone." I'm not going to make you believe that everything is puppies and rainbows, as much as I'd love too. The change has also been difficult, disheartening and straight up disappointing. But I don't believe that what Elaine and I have built, the skills we have obtained, the team we have created, are not transferable. What I also know is that our vision isn't blurry, in fact, it's sharper than ever. We've put our heads and hearts together, and have been working tirelessly on our next adventure. Anemia is a condition where the blood lacks an adequate amount of healthy red blood cells. The job of the red blood cells is to carry oxygen throughout your body and to supply it to your muscles. You require adequate levels of iron to help produce red blood cells (hemoglobin). If you want to lose weight, start with meal prepping one meal everyday. If you're overwhelmed with clutter in the home, start with organizing one corner. If you want to be more active, move for ten minutes everyday (this can anything even a dance session to the @backstreetboys πŸ’ƒ). .
