The one thing that really frustrates me about fitness magazines...

The gimmicky health headlines that over promise and under deliver.

As a cover model and functional health coach since 2011, I have helped women transform their bodies without food restriction or excessive exercise.

But when looking at health magazines, including the ones I have been on, I will be honest....

I've had many moments when my values were called into question. I can't even begin to count the number of times when health tips were connected to my photos and weren't a true representation of what it takes to transform.

I knew things had to change.

Compare yourself to how you were yesterday, not to how someone else is today. Everyone's journey is unique. Don't focus on what someone else is doing and envy that, because you will never be that person. Concentrate on improving each day, even it's small improvements.

Maybe try working out a bit more each day or spend a bit more time reading and learning a new skill each day. Focus on your journey!

Top 3 Ways to Ditch Restrictive Diets (And Come Out on Top!)

Many women are tired of not being able to eat what they want.

And I don’t blame them.

My name is Jill Bunny. I’ve been a functional health coach since 2011, helping women transform their bodies without food restriction or excessive exercise. I’m a best-selling author, retired athlete, cover model and have helped 10,000 women to better health.

Although healthwise, things are great for me now, things were once much different. I was challenged by a lack of time and motivation to constantly count calories or eat out of Tupperware containers. I remember how difficult it was to say no to a glass of wine with friends, or the anxiety I felt over having to order from a restaurant menu.

I just wanted to walk around in a body I was confident in, without tracking every bite of food I ate or exercise I completed.

But after dealing with fatigue, moodiness and guilt for missing out on countless events and celebrations, I made an unexpected discovery.

I could train my brain to transform my waistline!

Naturally, I was surprised by my own results. So I thought why not run a beta group with some of my clients and see if it would work for them too.

And to my delight, it worked for most of them!

Obviously, there’s no single plan that works for everyone, but I was so happy that this worked so well even for my clients dealing with exhaustion.

I knew I was onto something. And since then, I’ve been able to help thousands of women with this same discovery.

I have always struggled with being overweight. From a too chubby toddler to an overweight adult in my mid-50s, I have spent my life trying to achieve a normal weight. I could never understand how I could be so successful in other areas of my life and totally suck at weight loss. I tried every diet, several times. I even spent $17,000 to have a lap band surgically implanted into my body. Nothing worked. I felt totally hopeless and still continued to gain weight. It wasn’t until I learned about my sugar addiction and the effects it had on my brain that I was finally freed to stop obsessing over what I couldn’t do and focus on what I could.

Did you know there are 3x each year when women become more mindful eaters?

3️⃣ In September, when the kids head back to school.

Each of these calendar times signifies a new beginning, and you may feel like it's the time of year to start new habits. Unfortunately, without follow-through, most women fall back into the old habit of eating mindlessly.

However, there is a science and psychology of eating. Diets, as you know, don't always work. The best diet is the one you don't know you're on.

Diets focus on behaviour, and when we focus on the behaviour, we are challenging what we feel.

We are basically saying that what we feel isn't relevant or valid, and the ego resists this notion because it simply isn't the truth.

This is why diets become more like a battle of will between two parts of yourself; the part that thinks and the part that feels. We as a society don't like to feel, so we give up and blame it on the process.

We so easily in our society accept that something’s not working without ever investigating why.

I have a question that I am hoping some of you ladies can help me with. I have two daughters (12&9) and as I am going through prep I hear them say more and more “oh right mom you can’t eat that” I am worried about the effect that this will have on them, I try to explain that I can, that i am fully capable of eating what they eat but I am choosing not to. However, with raising girls I am worried that seeing me go through measuring my food and being particular about what I put in my body may cause them to having issues with eating later on in life. What are some responses that you have to your children when they ask about what you “can/can’t” eat? What are your thoughts and experiences with this?
