On behalf of the Advanced Medical First Response Division of Orangeville St John Ambulance, we would like pass our deepest condolences and sympathies to the friends, family, co-workers, and volunteers of St. John Ambulance Saskatchewan for the loss of Provincial Commissioner Mr. Sid Gaudry MStJ, SVM.
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of our Provincial Commissioner Mr. Sid Gaudry MStJ, SVM. his Family announced he passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family. His friendship will be miss dearly in the Saskatchewan Volunteer community. In 2017 I asked sid if he would serve as my deputy Commissioner, as we began to rebuild the Community services units across the province. In 2018 when I was transferred with the Canadian Military to Germany Sid assumed the role of commissioner, and I stepped down and became his advisor. Sid was an avid volunteer with both St John Ambulance and the Canadian Ski Patrol out at mission Ridge. He loved volunteering he often more times than not gave up his seat at a riders game to help provide first aid coverage for the game. I will miss our video chats where we would strategize and reminisce about the history of st john in Sask and his love of Military History over the last two years since being here. I know you will all Join myself and our Manager of Community Services Val and our Deputy Commissioner Stephen Damery MStJ, CD with condolences to the family on behalf of all volunteers in St. John Ambulance Saskatchewan Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Sid your comradeship will be sorrowly missed and I know you are now looking over us with a smile as we move forward with your spirit in all of us.

Headwaters Health Care Centre’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre Transitioning to Scheduled Testing Temporary two-day closure required to prepare Orangeville, ON – Oct. 2, 2020 – To try to curb the spread of COVID-19, Ontario announced additional measures that include transitioning all assessment centres to scheduled appointments beginning on Tuesday, October 6. Half of Ontario’s assessment centres already operate as appointment-based centres.
Starting on Sunday, October 4, all assessment centres will discontinue unscheduled testing services. This will enable the province's lab network to make progress in processing tests and to allow assessment centres the necessary time to reset and ensure preparedness for the new appointment-based model.
In order to plan for this change, the COVID-19 Assessment Centre at 100 Rolling Hills Drive will be closed on Sunday, October 4 and Monday, October 5.
During the temporary closure, we ask our community members to follow local public health guidelines, wait for further details on how to schedule and appointment locally, or to make an appointment at one of the other Assessment Centres already operating under an appointment-based system or book an appointment at one of the select pharmacies.
Information on how to book an appointment and hours of operation will be shared over the coming days.
Transitioning to appointment-based testing will allow our assessment centre to conduct enhanced screening in accordance with the province’s updated testing guidance announced on September 25, 2020. Online appointments are intended prevent people from having to line up for many hours to wait to be tested.
“A booking system will help people avoid long line ups and waits in the changing weather conditions,” said Kim Delahunt, President & CEO. “I want to thank the public for their patience and offer thanks to our staff, physicians and community partners for their commitment to caring for our community.”

As of 12:00 noon today, Orangeville Police will be replaced by Ontario Provincial Police. Over the past several years, we have had the distinct pleasure of working alongside these outstanding individuals. We have seen first hand the passion and dedication these individuals have for serving our community.

Our volunteers are prepared and well equipped to provide the first response casualty care necessary to save a life, prevent further injury, or provide comfort until emergency medical services arrive.
Dufferin County Paramedic Service provides emergency medical service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In an emergency, paramedics provide medical treatment and can transport patients to the most appropriate hospital destination if required. If you need immediate assistance, please contact 911.

Very sad news today coming from our teammates in London. Their search and rescue trailer was broken into with several key items and pieces of equipment stolen. Please be on the lookout for any items containing London search and rescue or St John Ambulance and report them to London Police immediately.

With some unfortunate news... our Search and Rescue trailer was broken into last night. As we are currently cleaning and taking inventory on stolen items we know for sure that as of right now, 2 trauma bags were stolen, a generation, and a digital camera have been taken. Our trailer has been left a mess, so as the clean up starts we may notice more  crucial items missing. If you see anything with a London Search and Rescue patch or a St John Ambulance please contact London Police.

On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.

St. John Ambulance is one of Canada’s largest volunteer networks which also operates world-wide. Our volunteers are present at sports events, festivals, concerts or any community gatherings. St John Ambulance first laid roots in the Orangeville area in 1976 when a group of volunteer medical responders formed a team to provide first aid services at public events. Over 40 years later and members of the St John Ambulance Orangeville still volunteer to provide basic and advanced first aid when emergencies occur. Our volunteers provide first response casualty care necessary to save a life, prevent further injury or provide comfort until emergency medical assistance arrives
Our highly skilled Medical First Response volunteers are equipped and ready to respond to injuries and medical emergencies at events in the community. Our volunteers come with a variety of backgrounds and interests. Many of our volunteers are past, present or future health care or emergency service workers. Volunteer hours serving the community can assist those looking for experience to include in their applications for these highly competitive fields. It is also a great opportunity to develop, refine and utilize existing first aid skills while helping respond to community health and safety needs.
The St. John Ambulance Medical First Response Service Unit is comprised of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds who log approximately 30,000 hours of community service at over 250 events in the communities we serve each year.
