Truth and reconciliation begin with listening, learning, and building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Meet Meagan, the Indigenous Program Support at DCHC. In this video, she shares her reflections on the importance of Truth and Reconciliation, what it means to her, and what she hopes community members will take away from coming together to honour the day.

At DCHC, we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment, one that extends beyond a single day and calls on all of us to continue learning, reflecting, and taking meaningful action.

Reconciliation calls for more than remembrance. It asks us to listen, learn, and keep showing up for one another, not just on one day, but throughout the year.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Indigenous Health and Wellness team at DCHC in partnership with Memengwaa brought community together for a full day of programming rooted in culture, reflection, and connection. Through activities and shared learning, participants had opportunities to engage with the day in meaningful ways. We held space to honour Survivors of residential schools.

The work of truth and reconciliation continues beyond one day. Find ways to keep learning through the 🔗 in our bio.

Today, Durham Community Health Centre hosted a Day of Reconciliation and Ceremony in observation of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

In partnership with Memengwaa Healing, the Indigenous team at DCHC led a full day program that connected culture, mourned those lost, and supported Survivors of Canada’s Residential School system and other colonial structures.

We would like to say Chii Miigwetch to the Indigenous Team at DCHC and Memengwaa healing for leading an incredibly impactful day full of learning and community support.

Truth and Reconciliation is an ongoing process, we invite community members to learn more here: https://www.durhamchc.ca/dchc-land-acknowledgement/

School's back, and so are coughs, fevers, rashes and the "should I get this looked at?" questions that pick up once classrooms fill again. The East Region Virtual Care Clinic is there for exactly those moments.

Connect with a Nurse Practitioner by video or phone for new or persistent symptoms, or for health advice and guidance. You don't need a family doctor to be seen. The clinic is also here for anyone who's unattached or can't get a timely appointment with their own provider.

In this video, Ashley Ward, Program Support, Integrated Care & Experience, Community Garden, takes us into the garden and shares how this volunteer-led space is helping our community learn, grow and connect - one seed at a time.
