The holidays are just around the
corner! 🎄✨

Although this is a wonderful time of year, it can also
bring up some difficult emotions. With social
gatherings surrounding food and meals, its not
uncommon to experience stress and maybe even guilt
around our food choices.

I’ve started to give myself permission to take a consistent afternoon break. Sounds silly saying that out loud, but it makes such a big difference. These days the break has been looking like an outdoor walk or a delicious snack.

Today, it’s a slice of banana walnut chip bread & chai tea latte - with a side of amateur latte art 😆

I don’t know about you but I am trying to hold onto every last ounce of fall. It comes and goes too quickly! Butternut squash is a true taste of fall but lucky for us, this squash will be around in the winter too.⁣

Just look at the colour in this dish! It has the consistency of mashed potatoes with sweetness of squash, some ricotta cheese for extra smoothness and protein and added deliciousness of roasted garlic. ⁣

Turn this beautiful purée into a pasta sauce by adding some cooking water to it to thin it out OR make a soup by adding stock to it OR even just serve it alongside your favourite protein. ⁣

There is no wrong answer! Both of these new summer ice pop flavours are delicious. If I had to pick though, I’d choose the lavender lemonade. Nothing says summer like the taste of lemonade and the hint of lavender is just an added bonus🌞

When it comes to nutrients, we believe that food is best source for vitamins and minerals. 🥬🍊

During pregnancy, however, it can be difficult to meet your nutrient requirements with food alone. This is because we have increased nutrient needs and can have a lower food intake when experiencing food aversions or nausea/vomiting. In this case, multivitamins can be very helpful! BUT, it is important to check the nutrition label. 🤔

Happy Earth Day!🌎

Today on April 22nd, let's take some time to celebrate this wonderful earth we live on and show support for environmental sustainability.

To celebrate Earth Day, I thought I would share some tips to incorporate environmental sustainability through our food choices.

Tip #1: Incorporate more plant-based proteins into your diet. Replacing some meat products with plant-based products is one way great to reduce our carbon footprint. Try options such as beans, lentils, or tofu.

Tip #2: Try freezing produce before it goes bad. Use these frozen fruits and veggies in smoothies, baking, or sauces. This prevents these foods from ending up in the landfill.

Tip #3: Don't be afraid to pick the imperfect produce in the grocery store. They often still taste as delicious and can still be used in many recipes. This is another way to prevent food from ending up in the landfill.
