It can feel daunting when you might have an ‘all or nothing’ relationship to food. Or you feel like you ‘can’t keep it in the house’ at this time of year, family gathers and food is shared and that’s a beautiful thing.
Here are some tips to not just getting through, but thriving in these holiday periods:
1. Eat something for breakfast and make it high protein and fibre and savoury, this helps with feeling full and satiated and not having a ‘sugar crash’
2. One weekend of eating doesn’t change your body, if you do over eat, don’t punish yourself the following day, eat like normal
3. Movement and comfort are so important, ask the family to join you for a nice slow walk after your big lunch, or take yourself out with the kids for a play in the yard. Also ditch the fancy outfits, and wear loose comfortable clothing so you’re not restricted and feel good sitting
4. Stay hydrated, this helps with digestion, and supporting your detoxification pathways
5. Rest, this break is exactly that, it’s my favourite part of autumn how many public holidays we have (LOL) so use this time to rest and nurture yourself, don’t set alarms, have daily naps and look after each other
