To whom it may concern-
I am writing to express to you how my health is being affected by the current lockdown measures restricting Manual Osteopaths from operating during this lockdown.
(Short description of how this time without your treatments have affected you or the reality that it may be months before you can receive another Osteopathic treatment.)
Osteopathic services are covered by most major insurance policies within Canada. This is not a luxury service but one that helps me maintain support and mobility in my body.
Thank you for your urgent consideration in this matter,
C.W. from Ottawa, ON
These Letters of Support from the people of Ontario will demonstrate how these restrictions are affecting their lives. This will certainly go a long way to prove our point that Manual Osteopathy is an essential service, regulated or not.
Thank you all in advance, your support and help is greatly appreciated.
Help osteopathy get the recognition it deserves.
We help thousands of Canadians everyday. Our clients have come to depend on the care we provide. Help us get back to helping you.

Fascia as an Organ of Proprioception and its Relationship to Chronic Pain
Once you realize that fascia acts as a giant mechanoreceptor, you can begin to see why it is so important in addressing chronic pain.
"Over and over again, people come to me, and they tell me, You just don't know how strong I am. They say "strength" and I want to hear "balance." The strength idea has effort in it; this is not what I'm looking for. Strength that has effort in it is not what you need; you need the strength that is the result of ease." Dr. Ida P. Rolf

This is what I'm talking about when I say it's all connected!
The concepts of connectivity and global movement are difficult to conceptualize as we have a affinity for mechanistic, linear principles as western humans. Fascial chains have become a popular concept amongst manual therapists and they are an excellent model to get therapists to think in terms of “connection” rather than isolation.
Tensegrity is also accepted by many as an explanation for the unified motions we see in the body. While some would question the literal application of fascial chains or tensegrity models in the body, one cannot help but see it as a WHOLE and not a collection of parts.
Fascia is the system that binds the body together as a whole and transmits energy and information from one part to the entirety of the structure. LH Joseph (2016) showed a direct link between pelvic motion and it’s effect on the shoulder. Joseph found unilateral saroiliac joint dysfunction altered myofascial force transmission across oblique sling muscles and caused anterior translation of the contralateral humeral head.
This abnormal humeral head position was linked to impingement, injuries of the rotator cuff and labrum but was also shown to often correlate with lumbopelvic dysfunction on the opposite side.
This video helps one visualize such effects in the body, watch how pelvic motion and shoulder girdle motion happen simultaneously. Models are necessary to help “see” what is possible in the body, check BONEMAN.pro!

Your body language literally shapes how you go through life.
Take ownership of your experience.
Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. So simple and yet so accurate.
An interesting way to view the body.
FASCIAL COMPARTMENTS- posterior view of the pelvic region reveals interesting fascial links from thorax to pelvis to lower extremity. This view is much closer to reality that many “muscle only” pictures.
The concept of named muscles is a manifestation of isolationist dissectors of years past who likely equated their findings on a dissection table to that of a butcher. Protein “cuts” seemed to take shape and were named as muscles. However, this illustration shows the real anatomy which is an interconnected web of connective tissue that happens to have “compartments” that house contractile protein bundles. The left side shows the fascial compartments for the glute max, semimembranosus and biceps femoris. On the right the compartment for the quadratus femoris is shown with the muscle protein removed.
One can easily see how muscle chains are the true reality as no muscle is isolated but is in fact just compartments along a much larger fascial system.
This concept can change the clinician’s approach to myofascial therapy or acupuncture. The best therapeutic effects may come from targeting fascial lines or chains rather than individual muscles only. Always think LINKS. #anatomylinks #anatomy #fascia #tensegrity #myofascialrelease #biomechanics #connectivetissue #chiropractic #osteopathy #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #acupuncture #dryneedling #muscle #massage #eldoa #functionaltraining #anatomia #yogaanatomy

The forgotten art of squatting is a revelation for bodies ruined by sitting
Westerners have forgotten how to squat, and it's causing health problems.
Well, the a science is in. If you're having a rough day- you're in need of a hug.
People who had a conflict in a given day but also got hugged were not as affected by the negative interaction as were their unhugged counterparts.
Brilliantly explained by one of my favorite colleagues.
I was recently asked in an interview by Karin Wagner for the journal of the Rolf Institute: "There’s been a lot of new information coming out of research science about the role of the nervous system – regarding pain and injury and also in explaining how Structural Integration works. As our field adapts to the current science, do you think fascia is becoming less important?"
My Reply: "Since you will not find a nerve apart from fascia, nor fascia apart from a nerve, I don't believe the importance of fascia will, or should recede any time soon, nor should either deserve to ascend higher alone. The eye cannot say to the foot, "I don't need you!" Any attempt to prioritize the importance of a particular tissue is unsupportable by the fact of the body in its awesome unity, which pays no respect to the word-knives which would cut it into separate parts that literally exist in the mind alone. The notion that one could be "working on" fascia, or "working on" a nerve, overlooks the fact that you can only touch the whole person, the whole body. Let the parts become less important, and the whole have its day!"
Of course, I do believe it is possible to focus the attention of a treatment on the particular mechanical and physiological properties of a given tissue. Most effective therapeutic approaches do so, and tell a story about what they are "doing" based on a particular tissue-preference as "the key." And still, we do well to consider that whenever we touch, we are interacting with the whole body, the whole person, and simply cannot do otherwise. For effective service, I personally believe in the primacy of a conscious connection with the whole, regardless of how you might prefer to enter the circle.
A common misconception regarding C-Section scars is that if it 'looks fine', all is well....in my experience and that of many soft tissue and manual therapists.....what the scar actually looks like is sometimes not aligned with the local and global dysfunction that it cause via superficial and internal adhesions, sometimes decades after birth. From bowel obstruction, to infertility, urinary incontinence to switched off abdominals and glutes to jaw pain....#itsallconnected. Just look 👀 at this incredible clip showing how the entire abdominal and pelvic cavity moves with breathing. The quality of your breathing mechanics is far wider reaching than just your lungs. The diaphragm is a huge massaging muscle on the gut contents and therefore improving breathing mechanics and diaphragm function has the potential to improve digestive, renal, adrenal, liver, uterine, ovarian, pelvic floor, bowel and bladder function.
