Yoga can be one of the most effective tools for helping soothe low back pain. However, yoga can also be the source of many back-related injuries or flare-ups. This is neither the instructor’s nor the student’s fault.

The simple fact is that every case of back pain is different and a general yoga class just simply cannot accommodate for this.
🎆
So the question is: how do we ensure that we are moving through our yoga practice in a way that promotes healing rather than creating a flare-up?
🎆
The first half of this workshop we will explore and identify common alignment and movement errors which could be exacerbating your back pain. We will use visual and external cues to understand how to modify and correct our practice to promote spine health. 🎆
The second half we will flow through a practice specifically designed to start you down the road to recovery. This workshop will give you the confidence and know-how to get back to attending your favourite classes worry-free!

We're almost at the end of June which will mark the end of the Great Cycle Challenge! With only a few days left I have surpassed my fundraising target of $500 ($813), and am on track with only 34kms left to reach my goal of riding 500kms this month!

✴️HIP MOBILITY vs HIP STRENGTH✴️

You can end up with one without the other, but they don't have to be mutually exclusive.
🔹
Forever chasing the elusive hip openers. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "my hips are so tight!" But very rarely do I hear people say, "my hips are weak."
🔹
Chances are if your hips are tight they are also weak. There's another chance that your hips aren't even that tight at all but pigeons us still you favourite pose! When was the last time you did a full squat pattern? Do you have consistent strength throughout your whole range of motion?
🔹
There's no point in being able to find a deep squat if you can't easily stand aright back up again. But good news! You can work flexibility and strength At THE SAME TIME! 😃

Try this little transition for yourselves. Can you stand straight up out of your #malasana, chest lifted, sholders first (no Beyoncé dance moves... this time 😜)? Why not see how many you can do in a row?

An easy twist in a favourite dish. This will serve 12, however between @trainertom00 we get 4 servings each (Tom's servings equal 2x my own).

This dish is quick and easy. I made my own taco mix, but you can easily use a premade packet to save time.

SERVES 12 | 541cals each
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
INGREDIENTS
🌮
6 cups - jasmine rice
1kg - lean ground beef
3 cups - pak choy shredded
2 cups - cherry tomatoes (cut in half)
1 - bell pepper diced (any colour)
3 cups - white onions diced
6 - bulbs garlic crushed
1 - courgette chopped
2 - avocados
260 g - cheddar cheese shredded
1 pck - taco seasoning
1 tsp - olive oil
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
METHOD
🌮
1) Soak rice for 15mins in old water. Cook rice as per instructions on the package.
2) Heat olive oil in pan on medium heat.
3) Fry onions until translucent.
4) Add garlic, beef, and toco mix to pan. Fry until cookef is cooked through.
5) Drain excess fat / oil.
6) Add vegetables to pan (except avo). Fry for 5-7mins or until vegetables are cooked to your liking.
7) Serve in bed of rice (1/4 cup for me, 1 cup for him).
8) Top with cheese and avocado.

Serves 12 | 102 CALS each
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
INGREDIENTS
1/2 C all purpose flour
1/3 C quick oats
1/4 C cocao powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 plain Greek yogurt
3 Tbls chocolate chips
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
2 ripe bananas
6 strawberries
2 tsp vanilla extract
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
METHOD
1) Preheat oven to 350F / 180C
2) Mix all dry ingredients (except choco chips in a med bowl)
3) Mix all wet ingredients including bananas (not including strawberries) in a med bowl.
4) Combine wet and dry ingrediance (I used a hand blender to make it super smooth).
5) Add 2 Tbls of choco chips to mixture.
6) Spoon mixture into muffin shells (I use silicone shells).
7) Sprinkle remaining choco chips on top.
8) Cut strawberries in half and lightly press a half piece onto the top of each muffin.
8) Cook for 20mins.
9) Let cool of tray before eating.
