Here's a small glimpse of our 5 hours hike in Madeira today (PR6 (25 Fontes)+PR6.1 +PR6.2 trails.

I look back at these pictures and although beautiful, they don't do justice to what we did or saw. Still, I wanted to share. We've been here for 5 days, have already done 4 spectacular hikes but have either been too busy or too tired... for posting anything.
Anyways, today over 12.6km, mostly stairs up and down, with only a few flat sections. But what a day!
As we like to say, everyday in Madeira is a leg day! 😉

YEAR END MESSAGE

Well that's a wrap!
I want to take a moment and express my gratitude to all of you for your loyalty to me personally, this past year.

Not many in this city, in fact, not many in this entire country, can say that they've had a thriving career and have been able to successfully practice cosmetic medicine for over 25 years. It's because of your continued trust in my skills and expertise that I PROUDLY can. This, despite the emergence of new clinics every week it seems and this despite the rapid evolution of this ever changing industry.

Some of you have just recently joined my practice and I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of getting to know you better in the months and hopefully years to come. I'm also immensely fortunate that many of you have been entrusting me with your aesthetic needs for 5, 10, 15 and even 20+ years!!!!

2024 is the year my practice won for the 5th consecutive year the Faces Award for Best MediSpa (Cosmetic Clinic) in Ottawa.

For many reasons (all good ones), 2024 is also the year I decided to slightly shift my professional focus. With 💙 joining me this past July, I finally have an expert colleague I work with, whose skills and knowledge I completely trust and with whom I am 100% comfortable sharing my patients treatments with. I've decided to focus my practice more and more on neurotoxin 💉treatments, my TRUE passion, and delegate fillers, PRP, Radiesse and Sculptra treatment to Corey.

2024 is the year I was part of a small group of select injectors invited to visit the Juvederm manufacture in Prangy, as well as be 1 of 12 Allergan Canadian representatives at the AWMC conference in Monaco. I also participated in the Dermapure Leadership Summit in Whistler in addition to attending local professional trainings.

In light of everything else that happened in my personal life, I'd say it was a full professional year.

Before and After

Here are the Before and After Botox treatment pictures of a lovely 🩷 new patient to my practice.

Her request was to receive a treatment that would give her subtle and natural results as well as make her look less tired.

I therefore adjusted my dosing to:
👩‍⚕️Improve the skin quality of her forehead,

👩‍⚕️Reduce her frown, forehead and bunny lines while maintaining some ability to move in the upper forehead.

👩‍⚕️Balance her dosing to give her a more refreshed appearance despite maintaining movement.

When I see her again in 3.5 months or so, we will determine together, if at that time, she would like to add a few units for her crow's feet area as well.

For this treatment I used:

When treating a client with neurotoxin 💉for the first time, I 👩‍⚕️ always schedule a follow up appointment, 2 weeks 🗓️post treatment.There are a several reasons for this:

1️⃣- I want to make sure that their results are perfect, both aesthetically and in line with what they expected. My approach (especially if this is my patient's very first experience with neurotoxins) is to be more conservative in my dosing. If this was there first Botox treatment, they don't know what to expect and many are nervous.
I much prefer that my patient comes back loving 💕their results and wanting a bit more than feeling it was too much. We can always add more 😉.

2️⃣-I can do a touch up if required.

3️⃣-We can add a treatment area that we may have discussed at the initial visit but wanted to see how it felt and looked first.

3-BUT ALSO, AND EQUALLY IMPORTANT, it is during this follow that I take after pictures to documents the results and share the Before and After with my patient. This is always such a positive part of my day and their's. 🤗
This feedback is crucial be able to appreciate the full extent of their results: wrinkles are softened, skin quality is dramatically improved, eyes are more awake, demenor is more friendly....

THE END OF AN ERA
Today is both a big 🎉and exciting day while being a bit of a sad 😔 day too . My youngest daughter Maude, who many of you have met over the 8 years that she's worked with me, is finally flying solo. Today is her last day assisting me. Next Monday, she starts a new managerial position with a different organisation.

It's been truly heartwarming to see her develop over those years, and grow from being the overall clinic assistant, to becoming a medical receptionist to our lead receptionist, to recently becoming one of my 2 medical assistants. And now, she is taking a big leap and will further her career by taking on the role of clinic manager, which I wholeheartedly believe she is ready for.
You've come a long way . 🤗
