Unroll the Mat Unroll the Mat offers fun yoga classes and events, yoga training and beautiful retreats ~ Cat Doyle

A little hiking. A little yoga. And a really good excuse to spend an afternoon outside.

Hike + Yoga is one of my favourite ways to bring movement, nature and community together.

We’ll head out on the trails in Gatineau Park, take in the fall air, move our bodies, and make time for yoga along the way.

You don’t need to be an expert hiker or the most flexible person in your yoga class. Just come ready to move, breathe and enjoy being outside.

Join me October 24 for an afternoon of Hike + Yoga in Gatineau Park.

Space is limited, so if this sounds like your kind of fall day, grab your spot through my website.

Apparently there are two versions of me when I travel.

When it’s just me? I’m perfectly happy figuring things out as I go.

When I’m planning a retreat for a group? Different story.

I want the details handled before you ever have to think about them — where you’re going, how you’re getting there, what you’re eating, where you’re sleeping and what the plan is if the plan changes.

Because the whole point of coming on retreat is that you shouldn’t have to organize every little thing yourself.

You get to arrive, settle in and enjoy the experience.

I’ll keep the spreadsheet.

Yin yoga is really an antidote to life’s busyness.

It gives us a chance to soften, slow down, regulate the nervous system, and create a little more space to reset.

And if you’ve ever been curious about the “why” behind the practice, this training gives you the opportunity to go deeper.

Over two weekends, we’ll explore the theory behind Yin, spend plenty of time practising, and look at how to set yourself up to get more from the practice.

If you’re already a yoga teacher, you’ll also leave with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and certification to bring Yin Yoga into your own community.

And honestly, the whole experience feels a little like a mini-retreat too.

40-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training
October 16–18 + October 31–November 1
Pure Yoga Centretown

Registration is open now.

Are you flexible…

or are you mobile?

They sound like the same thing, but they aren't.

Flexibility is your available range of motion.

Mobility is your ability to actively control and use that range.

And this is one reason why simply stretching more isn't always the answer when you're trying to improve how you move.

Instead of always chasing a deeper stretch, start exploring what happens when you add strength, control and awareness to the range you already have.

Because being able to get somewhere is one thing.

Being able to control yourself there is another.

Your nervous system reset doesn’t always have to be complicated. 🤍

Sometimes it can start with something as simple as noticing where you’re holding tension.

Your jaw.
Your tongue.
Your breath.

Try this:

Soften your jaw.
Let your tongue rest.
Take a slow inhale.
Then make your exhale a little longer.

Notice what happens when you bring your attention to the places that are holding.

I’m a big believer in practices that help us feel what's happening in the body rather than simply trying to push through it.

Try it for 30 seconds and check in with yourself.

Did anything shift?

Unpopular opinion: you don’t need to feel “ready” to go deeper.

You just need to be curious.

The 40-Hour Yin Yoga Training with Pure Yoga Ottawa is for the yin lover who wants to understand the practice on a deeper level — and for teachers who want to expand what they can offer their students.

Over 40 hours, you’ll explore yin through readings, practices, and exercises while building the skills to guide others through the practice.

And if teaching isn’t your goal? That’s okay, too.

You’re allowed to take a training simply because you want to learn more, connect more deeply with your practice, and understand the why behind what you’re doing on the mat.

Early bird pricing ends TODAY: $972 + HST.

Training begins October 16 at Pure Yoga Centretown.

If you’ve been thinking about it, this is your sign. 🤍

There’s something about stepping away from your everyday surroundings that gives you the space to see things differently.

That’s the heart behind Perspective in Peru — a yoga retreat created for stepping away, slowing down, exploring, connecting, and experiencing something completely different.

A chance to practice yoga in a new place.

To adventure beyond your usual routine.

To meet new people.

To create memories that stay with you long after you return home.

And maybe most importantly, to give yourself the space to pause and ask:

What do I want to see differently?

If Peru has been calling your name, this might be your sign.

A guest who attended one of my past retreats came into it thinking she knew exactly what she wanted to gain from this getaway.

A strong, challenging practice that would push her physically.

But the retreat had something else in store.

Slower practices.
Moments of stillness.
Time to connect.

And when she found herself spending a day with women she barely knew, she stepped outside of her comfort zone and discovered one of the most meaningful parts of the retreat.

There was laughter.
Conversation.
New friendships.

And a reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when we stop trying to make things happen.

By the end, she realized she had been so focused on the physical challenge of yoga that she had almost missed something equally important:

Being present.
Letting go of expectations.
And allowing connection to be part of the practice.

As she put it:

“What stayed with me wasn’t the yoga. It was the women I met.”

And maybe that’s what a retreat is really about.

Not just the places we go or the practices we do, but what opens up when we give ourselves permission to slow down, connect, and experience something we didn’t expect. 🤍

Maybe you don't need another thing on your calendar.

Maybe you need a little less.

Less rushing.
Less noise.
Less doing.

And more breathing.
More moving.
More being outside.
More time to yourself.

Back to Balance is a weekend designed around exactly that — yoga, hiking, nourishing food, rest, and space to reconnect with yourself in the beauty of the Outaouais. 🤍

October 2–4

Come for the yoga.
Stay for the exhale.

What I wish more people knew about online yoga?

It still counts!

You don’t need to drive across town, find a parking spot, or rearrange your whole evening to make yoga part of your week.

You can roll out your mat at home, press play, and still have real instruction, real connection, and a class that supports your practice.

My Fall 2026 Livestream Sessions begin September 14 and run for 12 weeks.

Choose one class, or make all three part of your weekly routine:

Mondays at 8:15 PM • Yin Unwind
A slower practice to stretch, release and settle in.

Tuesdays at 12 PM • Yoga Mobility Flow
A midday reset to move and create more ease in your body.

Thursdays at 7:30 AM • Yogalates
A feel-good blend to start your morning with strength and energy.

And there’s more than just the live class:

🌿Reminder emails so you don't forget
🌿Recordings available to keep practicing with until December 31
🌿A 20-minute one-on-one chat with me to talk about your practice and goals
🌿A bonus of a hike & yoga in person on either September 12 or 19!

Your mat. Your home. Your schedule.

Let’s make yoga a little easier to fit into real life.
