Very very last chance!
This is it! We've loved helping you find great nursing bras over the years but have moved out of retail and into lactation consulting exclusively so the last few bras we have need to go! LAST CHANCE! All bras are at super low clearance prices and once they're gone, they're gone! The fine print: all sales are final and online only.

I remember the first time I saw a toddler breastfeeding.
I found it weird. Really weird.
It seemed unnatural to me that a child who could walk and talk should STILL need to nurse.
The second time I saw it, it seemed less weird.
And the third, fourth and fifth time I was fine with it.
“Each to their own, but it’s not for me”, I would say.
I swore that I would breastfeed my own child till six months. Maximum.
Anything after that and they should be using bottles. Of expressed milk or formula. Particularly out in public. After all, they get all they need from solid food from six months anyway.
Six months came. And went.
He refused bottles.
I could barely pump a drop.
Breastfeeding in public was not the discreet affair that I had envisaged.....
And he refused milk in any other form other than straight from the tap...
I was stressed and confused and I inadvertently found myself breastfeeding into toddlerhood.
Every assumption that I had ever made;
About him not needing it past six months, and about how he should be taking bottles...
he dispelled my ignorance at every corner.
And he showed me that he DID need it.
I just had to find that out for myself.
And breastfeeding a toddler suddenly didn’t feel weird. It made so much sense.
For us.
When he was unwell he would rely on it.
When he was upset he would rely on it.
And when he was hurting, happy, tired, angry, hungry, thirsty, sad; he would rely on it.
Until one day he was able to check in with his own emotions, and he no longer relied on it.
He developed his own coping mechanisms.
So why is it important to normalise natural term breastfeeding?
Because if this is the first time someone sees it, then the second or third time it will be slightly less weird. And by the fifth time, it would hardly be noticed or commented upon at all.
Because the only thing that is unnatural about natural term breastfeeding, is society’s ASSUMPTION that it is unnatural or weird.
It was my unrealistic expectations that made it unnatural. And it was my lack of understanding that made it weird.
It is one of motherhoods greatest contradictions;
to push the importance of breastfeeding without adequate support, and then push for her and her child to stop before either of them are ready.
And that needs to end.
FYI - please get in touch if you have one of the lots affected.
We just released a recall for Milk Aplenty lot #54897 and Goats Rue lot # 57426. All other lots are not affected.
This was a voluntary recall due to a very small number of bottles being non-conforming as far as colour goes. After an investigation with our manufacturer we determined that these bottles didn’t pose any risk to health but out of an extreme abundance of caution decided to voluntarily pull these lots from the market. We are committed to creating the safest products available for new moms and babies🤍
We are aware that this recall would likely cause some concern but knew it was the best thing to do to show our commitment to the health and safety of our customers and show a dedication to transparency.
If you have one of these bottles from one of these lot numbers please reach out to us at [email protected] and we'll send you a prepaid shipping label to return it and also issue you a full refund immediately.
We're always available if you have any questions at all!
With love and appreciation,
Christine & Andrea (the two mamas behind Rumina Naturals)

Nailed the April 1st post!
Several of my very favourite people were born in March! Welcome March!
Right?!
You are not a milk factory. As you feed, your child's heart rate slows, their attachment hormones spike, their microbiome is nourished and their brain falls into a deep, restorative calm, much like adult brains do during meditation.
Suckling causes oxytocin release in both mother and child, promoting a felt sense of wellbeing, safety, love and contentment.
Oxytocin lowers blood pressure and stress reactivity in mothers. In infants, oxytocin increases resilience to stress and drives the formation of more oxytocin receptors in the amygdala (for healthy social behaviour and a lowered risk for anxiety).
Simultaneous oxytocin release, repeated over time, changes both mother and infant brains, in ways that underpin long term attachment and synchronicity. It literally rewires brains in favour of love and wellbeing.
You are not a milk factory. You are a retreat, a safe space, a perfect tonic.
You are laying the foundations of long term wellbeing with every feed.
You are a hero.

Have you seen domperidone in the news today and are worried about your use of it? Please note that it’s the weaning process that may cause issues and that it’s very important to wean sloooowly (10mg/week as a guideline) and to use this (and any other drug!) with appropriate professional guidance.*warning that the article includes mention of suicidal ideation.
CBC spoke with nine women in Canada, the U.S. and Australia who say they had debilitating psychological side effects when they tried to come off domperidone, a drug that's often prescribed to help induce lactation, but isn't actually approved as a breastfeeding aid.

I had no idea!
The Queen helped Princess Diana and Kate Middleton to breastfeed their children by rebelling when she became a mother to start a brand new tradition.
This is a question we got a lot and the answer is a solid....maybe? Depending on your individual situation, green p**p may be an indication that something is up with your baby or it may just be a variation of normal! If you have questions about feeding your baby, to get them answered!

Can you spot the breast pump in this picture? Wearable breast pumps (like this one from MomCozy) are the latest innovation and these miniaturized pumps can be great for some! Are you a good candidate for a wearable breast pump? You might be if you:
Have a good milk supply
Fit in a standard fl**ge size
Are prioritizing convenience
Have you tried one? What's your experience with a wearable breast pump been like?
YES! Hold the mother. ❤️
Hold the mother, not the baby.
Because the baby’s being taken care of—
fed, snuggled, and given all the love in the world—
by not only the mother,
but her partner, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends.
But the mother,
may have gaps in her mind from lack of sleep,
may be mechanical in her motions as she’s healing,
may feel more like a mess than a mother,
may be sitting in bed, crying, feeling overwhelmed in her body and life,
may be full of mom guilt because in her mind, "she's not good enough,"
and she’s bleeding, wincing in pain, swollen and emotional.
And the mother’s that baby's whole world and needs to be seen, so she doesn't disappear into that postpartum fog.
So, hold the mother, not the baby.
A mother agrees that her baby matters more.
But she’s hurting, while she’s the person behind the baby,
in the background, making it all happen:
feeding her baby at all hours,
snuggling her baby close to comfort newborn cries,
and being that baby’s everything.
So, it’s the mother who needs your love.
And a mother will remember who held her up.
So instead of “I’m coming to see the baby,”
try saying, “I’m coming to see you 𝘢𝘯𝘥 meet the baby, too.”
Because the mother needs to be held more.

What do braces have to do with babies?? When we look at babies with tethered oral tissues, we often see the potential long term complication of dental issues. If the mouth and jaw don't develop properly, there can be teeth crowding that lead to needing dental work. It's a lot to consider when making a decision about releasing a tie. A skilled IBCLC and a good release provider can help. Questions? Book with Milkface for an assessment!
Look - we all know that the best choice would be to stop smoking while pregnant and with a baby in your house but not everybody is ready or able to go cold turkey. So what's the deal with smoking and breastfeeding? If a smoking parent is willing and able to provide breastmilk for their baby, that remains a great choice. Smoking and breastfeeding are not mutually exclusive. If possible, smoke outdoors and change your clothes before breastfeeding your baby. Working on cutting down on smoking can be a doable goal for some people and even a small decrease in the number of ci******es smoked per day is valuable.
