It’s another #Meetyourtrainerthursday and this week we’re showcasing Diane!

While Diane enjoys many activities, yoga is her passion, particularly sharing her knowledge and skills with others. This led her to becoming a registered teacher in Ottawa, where she teaches classes from beginners to experienced yogis (hatha, yin, restorative, power). Diane has guided practitioners in resort settings, led foundational posture workshops for beginners and co-lead retreats for women. In Diane’s all levels hatha classes you will combine physical yoga postures (asana) and breath work (pranayama).

Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, you will find that she teaches with a focus on movement to breath, compassion for individual challenges and a lighthearted sense of fun.

Diane believes that yoga is accessible to all and that stepping onto your mat will allow you space for self-discovery!

LUCKY SEVEN 7 !!
Here are seven recommendations for AVOIDING unnecessary INJURY in yoga:
1. Bend your knee a little bit for each forward bend to help a pulled hamstring heal. (they take forever to heal!)
2. Do CACTUS arms in your CHAIR pose WARRIOR and W1 to alleviate tension in your head, neck, and shoulders.
3. Perform PIDGEON pose on your back with your ankle strongly flexed to take pressure off an aching or injured knee. Great go-to pose for sciatica pain!
4. Move your feet forward a bit in BRIDGE pose to soothe any sharp pains at the front of your knee joint.
5. Skip every 3rd Vinyasa sequence in your FLOW class to take the pressure off an aching or injured rotator cuff. (that's for me!!)
6. Turn your feet over mindfully one at a time when transitioning from UPWARD DOG to DOWNWARD DOG (instead of rolling over your toes) to avoid aggravating bunion pain.
7. Getting headaches after Yoga class? Tone down your UJAYYI breathing. You may be building up too much pressure in your cranium.
