Parkway House is a permanent home for twelve adults with physical challenges. Residents have 24 hour support and are responsible for their own life choices.
This is home for twelve incredible people who require assistance in order to live their daily lives. Parkway House is a non profit organization and we depend on the generosity of the community to survive.

On April 30th, we launched the 48 Hour L'Arche Canada Quarantune Challenge. We were amazed to received 209 submissions from 28 L'Arche communities in 8 count...

Christmas came early this year for Parkway House residents! Jennifer Keyes Parks and her beautiful family delivered Stockings brimming with stuffers! Another family delivered turkey with ham and all the fixings. To top it all off Linda Lafontaine’s Christmas fundraiser for Parkway has raised $800 to date!!!! Thank you Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this wonderful group. So much effort during such a busy time of year. The residents are thrilled 💞♥️

So I was given an assignment to look into Canadian inventions the other day. I discovered that one of Canada's most prolific inventors ever lived right here in Ottawa and worked for the NRC.
His name was George Klein, and here he is (on the left) with one of his early works, circa 1952. It's the electric wheelchair. Think how many people the electric wheelchair has helped over the years. Klein even fitted the modern joystick.
Klein was asked to look into the wheelchair problem because of the large number of men who returned from WW2 with spinal trauma and/or missing limbs. He went on to work on the Alouette satellite, and was a major player in the design of the Canadarm, just to mention a few of his other contributions.

It's no secret that the smooth, plastic bodies staring out of store windows aren't true physical replicas of the people who stare back at them. But there's no reason they can't be.
