Just the right amount of dirty sweetness and packed with performance boosting nutrients. So why not heat it up? I recently had a conversation with a friend in Australia who was talking about this new rage - the beetroot latte. [ 161 more words ]

Sexy Food Therapy - Melissa Ramos

I'm proud of the research I do into every single product I recommend in my clinical practice. I'm also proud that when a colleague, an expert in the health field comes up with serious info I am smart enough to listen.

Last year when my good friend and colleague Melissa S. Ramos told me about Natren a figured meh, just another to add to the list. Boy was I wrong. Now it's the ONLY one on my list and my patients agree, it's the best.

Thankfully I'm one of those practitioners who isn't to proud to listen and learn. Even with my R&D background, I was shocked to learn how ineffective some of the big players are in the probiotic world.

You might be wondering if I’ve gone completely off the deep end by saying this. But the reality is most people have the whole subject on probiotics all wrong – including practitioners. Oooof…that’s going to ruffle some white lab coats. But listen, I’m all about making sure that my people are well informed so that they can make an educated decision. Now this post isn’t intended to bash other companies but rather to give you the truth on what you need to know and what to watch out for.

But a probiotic scam Melissa?

Yup, I’m going there so buckle up sweet soul and let’s breakdown what you need to know when buying probiotics.http://jrv.is/2dJK5ld

A fun little read on why low fat doesn't work.

Wonderfully put by Dr. David Ludwig. "The science of nutrition is complex. But we know that the low-fat diet of the last 40 years didn't work."

Master tonic, elderberry syrup and ginger tea. My three go to remedies for this time of year

Ginger syrup—a spicy/sweet friend for wintertime tummy troubles and immune health. You can slurp it straight off the spoon, or stir it into warm teas, breakfast porridge, and sparkling water.

I love this.

We get so hung up on labels, we don't need to be. You can modify any style of eating to fit your body and it's needs. Don't buy into the cult of dietary labels. Do what works best for you.

Why one writer decided to drink bone broth—even though the rest of her diet is vegetarian.

One of the most amazing herbs I've used has been tulsi, also known as holy basil.

Not only does it lower cortisol (your stress hormone), it also curbs sugar cravings (caused by raised cortisol)

Anxiety? Yup
It's great for that too.

A great and convenient way to get it into your system (better than tea) is to make a tincture to have it handy in your desk at work or for on the go.

Yup I hate protein powders. Why? They aren't necessary and most of them are crap....

Synthetic and unnecessary ingredients. Denatured and harmful protein and of course added ingredients which you not only can't pronounce but also have no business being consumed by humans #toxic

We need to do our best to reduce our toxic load, not be increasing it. On our journey to health we often look for a shortcut. Unfortunately the short cuts we take tend to have long term repercussions.

What I've seen in my clinical practice from protein powder use:

IBS/IBS
GI imbalances
Hormone imbalances
Adrenal dysfunction
Liver toxicity overload
Thyroid disruption

I'm always posting recipes to use as a substitute in my private Fb group. Are you part of it yet?

New post! Let's face it. Protein powders and supplements are one of the most expensive things you can buy at the health food store. They better have the best ingredients, or what's the point?! Here are some popular protein powders you've asked me about lately, what I really think and what to choose instead! Please spread the word.
