I can't believe it's almost Easter weekend. 2021 seems to be flying by with virtual learning, schools and businesses opening and closing it can sometimes be difficult to find our footing. We were hoping to begin offering in person classes again in the spring but with the possibility of further lockdowns we have decided to wait a little longer until we can gather safely once again. In the meantime I've been thinking of offering a virtual yin, gentle flow or restorative class. Which would you like to see? Would you prefer a live class or an emailed link to access the class when you have time? Let me know in the comments below.
I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has reached out asking when I will be back to in person teaching and where. I smile everytime I open a message like this.
If you are looking for private classes or private group classes send me a message. I am booking in July, virtually. I am hoping to offer a few outdoor classes over the summer so keep an eye out on this page. We do not have a date for in person classes at the healing lodge yet but we do have a wait list for when we start offering those classes. If you already sent me your name you are still on the list. Can't wait to see you all in person again!

Many women coming together to offer their gifts in support of youth mental health. It's incredible to see what can be accomplished when people put their minds together.

We are hoping to start our classes and rebook the private group bookings that had to be cancelled due to covid,in the spring. Over the next 2 days we plan on posting pictures from our classes and fundraisers from the last 2 years. Keep an eye on our stories. If you've taken photos at any of our classes, workshops, events or private classes and want to share, even if it's just your toes by the fire before class, please send it our way so we can include them.

Oh how I miss these days! Missing the yogi life. Teaching yoga at Mama Goddess in person. It has almost been a year since I've taught in person classes. I was in the middle of teaching a 5 week class package when covid hit. We had a DIDF fundraiser wellness day planned and I had hot stone restorative classes booked. Just like that everything came to a screeching halt. I was lucky enough to teach classes in September with all the new health and safety measures in place before we were shut down again. I hope one day soon we will be able to see each other in person. Until then be kind, be safe.

My friend pointed out yesterday (Bell let's talk day) how amazing it was to see so many people sharing their experiences, their truths and in return people posting so much love in the comments and sharing their stories as well. I couldn't agree more. I read so many kind, loving, uplifting comments yesterday my heart was full of gratitude. Now, close your eyes, take a breath and imagine a world where this happened on a regular basis. A world where we can talk openly about how we feel and be held in a safe place. That's the world I want to live in. That's the world I want my children, nieces and nephew to live in. So be kind everyday. You never know what someone is going through ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ

I've been a little quiet lately. Taking time to process, heal and really let my emotions flow over me with no expectation or judgment. Let's just say that's a work in progress ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are a picky bunch at my place but I've made this maple apple pear oatmeal and it's been a big hit. I love the grab and go (to virtual learning because there's no where else to be) breakfast. It's from one of my fav cookbooks Oh She Glows. I make it the night before, place it in the fridge overnight and stick it in the oven first thing in the morning to bake. Winter solstice blessings! ๐ŸŒŸ
Even the darkest days have light

This day comes with a lot of uncertainty as we await to hear about another lockdown. Let's take pause. If it seems like too much try to bring your attention back to your breath. You can place a hand on your chest, one on your belly. Breathe. Count while you breathe as you inhale and exhale. Inhale 1,2,3,4. Exhale 4, 3 ,2,1.

Bring your focus to things you can control. Maybe it's getting outside for some fresh air. Reading a book, watching a show, playing a board game.

One day at a time. One moment at a time.

We have almost made it to the end of 2020. What a year it has been. Twists and turns, ups and downs and a wide range of emotions.
Even though most holiday celebrations this year won't be what many are used to, I hope you all find moments of peace, joy, love and happiness. Thank you to everyone for supporting me through purchases and attending classes. I hope to teach many more classes in 2021 ๐ŸŒŸ

An Accessible Yoga Sequence for Practicing Lord of the Dance Pose

Yoga is for every body! Props are your friends. Last year I was teaching a class and our next pose was camel. I needed props to support my body. That's right! I'm the teacher and I needed props. Some students did the pose without and we all laughed when I said "I'm using blocks on the highest level for this one because my body needs then." There's no shame, no race, no contest. The end goal is how do YOU feel after your practice.

This is what I love most about yoga. It's accessible for every body whether with blocks, bolsters or a chair. We listen to what feels best for our bodies. We are all different. On my mat is where I feel the most at peace.

Ontario shutting down indoor dining, gyms and movie theatres in three COVID-19 hotspots

We have been taking all necessary steps to ensure our classes are safe for all and our clients feel safe attending our classes.

We started cancelling our classes earlier this week because we feared this was coming with the increase in covid cases in Ottawa. I can not explain how heavily this weighed on my heart. We were so excited to reopen in September and be back with all of you doing what we love!

This has been a roller coaster ride, not seeing you all in person as well as a loss of income this year for us and many others. The loss of income has affected so many of us personally as well as studio owners and the Misiwe Ni Relations healing lodge which is so close to my heart. I want to thank everyone for booking classes as soon as we reopened in September and to my wonderful assistants Kelly and Cindy who have not taught with me since earlier in the year due to our shut down. CO Yoga would not be what it is without all of you. Thank you.

As our roller coaster ride continues please continue to support small business. People who pour their heart and soul into what they do; the businesses they create with love and purpose.

I am always available virtually but for now will be taking a break. We wish you and yours well. This may not have been the path we would have chosen but during this time of thanksgiving, we are so Thankful for all of you.

New month, new beginnings, full moon. I invite you to take a moment to notice how you are feeling. Maybe close your eyes. Take a breath. What is it you need right now, today? Taking another breath, what do you need to do to accomplish what you need right now. Continue breathing in a pattern that feels good for you. Relaxing your shoulders, your jaw, the space between your brows. Gently opening your eyes and glancing around the space you are in. What do you notice? What do you see, smell or hear? Grounding yourself in your space, in your body. Today take a moment for you and your needs ๐Ÿ‚

Hi. My name is Chantal Ouellette. I was introduced to yoga over 16 years ago. After attending my first class I was hooked. Practising yoga has calmed my mind, strengthened my body and fed my soul. Yoga meets you where you are and accepts you in all your forms. This is what I share with my students. I enjoy teaching Yin, Restorative and Hot Stone Restorative yoga. I am a mother of 3 and a Registered Early Childhood Educator and enjoy teaching yoga to children of all ages. Although I teach and practice at home, I also attend yoga classes around the city. This Saturday, in the sacred space of the Misiwe Ni Relations Healing Lodge, we dedicate time to holding space for ourselves, listening to our bodies and what it needs and celebrating the Goddess within. This week I completed 2 private sessions. Chantel did an amazing job putting together a routine involving area specific stretches with the use of myofascial release balls and straps. This therapy has worked wonders for the pain I have been experiencing in my hips and contracted muscles. I could feel a sense of fluid physical motion during and after the sessions. Ending the class with hot stones sent some love and relaxation to areas that had been worked on. I am looking forward to practicing some of these stretches at home to continue feeling the results......Thank you!
