CoorDown

CoorDown

Aiutateci a condividerla!

What “special needs” does a person with Down syndrome really have? None.

They may require a little support and assistance to accomplish their needs, but those needs are simply human just like everyone else’s: to study, communicate, work, love and be loved.

We’re proud to present Not Special Needs, the new CoorDown campaign for World Down Syndrome Day, the 21st of March.

Help us share it!

Hey #Ottawa! We hope your dancing shoes are ready and your bellies are hungry because our Summertime Bash and Barbecue is right around the corner! We can't wait to see you at the @DovercourtRecreation, August 16th from 6pm-9pm!
I wish to make a contribution to your newsletter to warn about a man who is preying on the Developmentally Delayed community here in Ottawa. My daughter was recently sexually assaulted in her apartment by a man who forced his way in when she unlocked her door. He has been charged with break and enter and sexual assault but because he has no "prior offences on record” has not been detained. He was extremely skilled and persuasive and would not take “no” for an answer. I do not believe this was a first offence. This vulnerable community needs to know he or others like him are out there. I am attaching a description of the offence and a picture of the offender. He was caught on the lobby cameras from my daughter’s description and the time of the offence. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 16, 2018 1:37pm Male suspect of a Sexual assault to identify (Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is seeking public assistance to identify a male suspect involved in a Sexual Assault on a 36 year old female victim. On Sunday, March 4, 2018, the male suspect initiated a conversation with the victim at the main entrance of her residence in the South end of Ottawa. He followed her to her apartment door, and was informed that he was not allowed inside her home. He stopped the door from closing and forcibly entered. While inside the residence, he sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect is described as a black male, English speaking, measuring 5’10” (178 cm). (see photos). Anyone with information regarding this investigation or who knows the identity of the male suspect is asked to call the SACA unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
