While COVID-19 has quickly created a new world for us all, it also presents organizers, politicians, and decision-makers with the possibility of great social reform. This reform begins with the inclusion of those most often pushed to the margins of our society as we collectively usher in a new world that is accessible and inclusive to all.

Developmental Service Worker Appreciation Day is more than just acknowledging workers in developmental services—it is about all of us re-affirming our commitment to fight for inclusion and accessibility.

We hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the sun!

Remember to be heat safe during this heat wave.

Focus on cooling the back of the neck, under the arms and groin area. Soak feet and hands in a basin of cool water. Stay connected with people in your community who have a difficult time coping with hot weather and those who live alone and check on them regularly.

On September 17, 2012, the UN publicly declared that the Global Day of Parents would be held annually on June 1. This observance recognizes parents as vital in providing protection and positive development for their children. The UN also noted that parents of every race, religion, culture and nationality in all parts of the world were the primary caregivers and teachers of their children.

To all our caregivers, you are the greatest and have a fantastic day!

The National Day of Mourning is not only a day to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy, but also a day to collectively renew our commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace and prevent further injuries, illnesses and deaths.
Consider simply pausing at 11:00 am on April 28 for a moment of silence. These acts of remembrance help to honour the lives lost or injured due to workplace tragedy, while also acknowledging the sacrifices of frontline and essential workers who have died or become ill serving during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's the first of two supermoons this year.

Despite the name, the moon won't actually appear pink. The name refers to the fact that April's full moon coincides with the blooming of the bright pink creeping phlox flowers. The moon will actually appear golden and fade to a bright white.
