Our Blood Counts is calling on Canadian Blood Services to establish a blood plasma donor centre in Northern BC, bringing blood donation back to the region and addressing Canada's urgent need for blood products.

Thank you to Irina, Mary-Ann, and Melanie (pictured) along with Claudette (who Mark forgot to photograph). They did a terrific job during our canvassing at Save On Foods on the Hart on Sunday. Their work helped add 232 names to our petition, with an amazing **5,648 people** now calling on Canadian Blood Services to return to Northern BC with a blood plasma donor centre.

Prince George is a growing hub of economic and health care activity. Residents, governments, and organizations here and across the region continue to voice their strong support for contributing to Canada's blood supply.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and all the people and groups providing their support for this effort to build Canada's blood supply and help save lives. And thank you to Save On Foods, which has hosted us at all four of its Prince George locations.

Another important voice has provided its support to life saving blood donation in Northern BC.

Thank you to the North Central Labour Council of BC for supporting Our Blood Counts and calling for blood donation services to return to Northern BC.

The NCLC represents workers in 24 affiliated bargaining associations across North Central BC. Their endorsement is the 42nd letter or resolution of support we’ve received from First Nations, local governments, elected representatives, health providers, and representative organizations across the North.

And we’re nearly at 5,400 petition signatures!

Every name helps demonstrate that Northern BC wants the opportunity to give blood and support Canadian Blood Services to keep Canada’s blood supply close to home.

A heartfelt thank you to the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Chief Dolleen Logan for supporting the return of blood donation to Northern BC.

Lheidli T’enneh has also committed to becoming a Canadian Blood Services Partner for Life, helping support ongoing donations if and when a donor centre opens in our region.

Canadian Blood Services says Canada needs a million new blood donors, and has an urgent and emergent need for blood.

So here's an offer: Northern BC is ready.

-A region of 300,000 people.
-A nearly 5,200-name petition at www.ourbloodcounts.com calling for the return of blood donation.
-Broad-based support from 40 First Nations, local governments, provincial and federal elected representatives, health providers and community supporters.
-And a region that has repeatedly been told that things can't be done, only to find a way to do them anyway.

We aren't asking Canadian Blood Services to solve this alone. We're asking it to work with us to find a way.

There are people and groups in Northern BC who want to donate. They want to help save lives. Their nearest donor centre shouldn't be a two day round trip away!

Canadian Blood Services: you need donors. We've got them.

When it comes to saving lives, the North wants in.

In a world of uncertainty, Northern BC is ready to make a life-saving difference.

Canada needs a stronger blood supply with more Canadian donors and less dependence on American-sourced plasma. Plasma is used to make medicines that people with immune disorders, bleeding conditions, and other serious illnesses rely on every day.

Thank you to MP Ellis Ross for your letter of support as we call on Canadian Blood Services Services to return to Northern BC with a new plasma donor centre.

With this latest letter, 38 MPs, MLAs, First Nations, local governments, health providers and health bargaining associations have now formally endorsed bringing blood donation back to Northern BC.

What’s particularly compelling is how broadly this support spans Northern BC. From communities across the North, people are sending the same message: when it comes to saving lives, the North wants in.

Canada needs blood. Northern BC is ready to give. ❤️🩸

As of today, 5,000 people have signed our petition to bring blood donation back to Northern BC.

This milestone comes at a critical time. Canadian Blood Services recently announced that Canada's blood supply has dropped nearly 20% since June 1st, and is urgently calling for more donors.

Northern BC wants to help. We're asking for the opportunity to contribute lifesaving blood products closer to home through a regional blood plasma donor centre.
