#bougetmvpa In this special holiday season, why not take some time with your family outside? The territory is an immense playground where it's good to breathe clean air and explore nature. 🌲❄️ Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or simply hikings are great ways to foster wellness! Get your boots and warm clothes out and move!

Note: If the storm and intense cold keep us inside for a few days, feel free to look to virtual options. The internet is full of yoga, workout, meditation activities, etc. The idea is to take care of yourself! Here are some app suggestions: Nike Training Club, Daily Yoga and Workit. 😉

While our communities have been faced with a worrisome increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, the FNQLHSSC encourages all of our populations to continue to apply the health directives. Wearing a mask, maintaining a two-metre distance, and avoiding non-essential gatherings and travel all help reduce the spread of the virus. ⛔️🦠

We understand that, after eight months of struggle and containment, some of you may be experiencing pandemic fatigue, especially since this form of isolation can affect our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. However, as the holiday season approaches, it is vital for us to apply the current measures if we are to continue to protect our loved ones.

We have come to a critical point and we have the power to turn the situation around. 👵🧓 Now, more than ever, it is important to maintain our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our populations, particularly for the most vulnerable, including our elders and the traditional knowledge keepers.

Throughout history, our peoples have gone through various trials, demonstrating extraordinary strength and resilience. We hope that this strength will enable us to face the second wave of the pandemic, as we have done since last spring. We must all remain strong and united! 💪

Following several discussions highlighting the need to establish a strong communication link to provide directions in the areas of health and social services, the Chiefs of the Assembly of the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL) adopted a resolution on September 24, 1992, supporting the creation of a working group representing First Nations in order to develop the terms of reference of a “Health and Social Development Commission”. On December 3, 1993, the AFNQL Chief, Ghislain Picard, issued a press release announcing the upcoming creation of this Commission. The “First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission” was officially created on April 14, 1994.
