In this week's Friday Chat, Al shares something that stayed with him after this weekend's windstorm.

Sometimes we're holding more than we realize. Tomorrow at Return, we'll make room to let some of it go.

Return is on Saturday, October 24, from noon to 4 p.m. at O₂xy Wellness. We'll share a cacao ceremony, drum together, rest in a crystal bowl sound bath and finish with a warm bowl of khichari.

Pull up a chair. There’s something lovely about sharing a warm meal after an afternoon together. 💙

This Saturday, we’ll finish RETURN with a bowl of Ayurvedic khichari and time to visit. Warm, gently spiced and made with rice and mung beans, it’s a simple, comforting meal. Ours is vegan and gluten-free.

Take your shoes off and stay a while. The afternoon is winding down but it is also a kind of beginning. Enjoy your food and visit with the people beside you.

People have been gathering around a warm cup of cacao for more than 5,000 years, and I think they were onto something.

Even a chime needs time for its last note to fade.

How often do we give ourselves that same space before moving on to the next thing?

We finish a conversation and reach for our phones. Complete one task and start another. Fill a quiet moment before we’ve had a chance to feel it.

This Sunday, let there be a little space.

Sit for a moment without reaching for anything. Let your thoughts wander without needing to follow every one.

You don’t have to make yourself perfectly calm. Just give yourself a few minutes with nothing to answer and nowhere else to be.
