Some things we only understand after we slow down.

Rest is not doing nothing. It is choosing to pause on purpose. Discomfort is not always something to push through. Sometimes it is your body asking to be heard.
Your body moves at its own pace, not the calendar’s.
What settles you may not settle anyone else, and that is okay.
And you do not have to figure it all out alone.

Awareness is not a destination. It is a hundred small moments of coming back to yourself.

Be honest, which one are you?
1️⃣ Push through it
2️⃣ Slow down

We don’t often think much about our health when everything feels fine.

But if the way we live today is also preparing us for the future,
would we make different choices?

We’re currently preparing for the Shaun’s Zen Podcast 🎙️

We want to create conversations around health, wellness, and the body that feel relevant to real life. The questions we wonder about, the changes we notice, and the things we want to understand better.

And we want you to be part of that conversation.

What’s a health or wellness topic you’ve always wanted to hear us talk about?

Leave it in the comments.
Your question might just become one of our next podcast episodes.

We’re growing our team at Shaun’s Zen, and we’re looking for a few new people to join us.

We’re currently hiring for four roles: Front Desk, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), Graphic Designer, and Photographer & Videographer.

They’re very different roles, but what we’re looking for in the people behind them is pretty similar. We’re looking for people who take their work seriously, notice the little things, communicate well, and genuinely care about doing a good job.

We’re a small team, so everyone plays a real part in what we’re building. Whether you’re working with patients, keeping the clinic running, designing something, or behind the camera, your work matters and your ideas are always welcome.

If that sounds like the kind of team you’d like to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.

Wellness doesn’t only happen in the clinic. It can start right at your table.

Goji berries are one of the most familiar examples.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, they can be used as an herb. At home, they can also be part of something as simple as a cup of tea, a bowl of soup, or an everyday meal.

This is the idea behind TCM PANTRY | Food as Medicine: bringing TCM from the clinic into everyday life.

It’s not about turning every herb into a supplement. It’s about understanding its properties, who it may be suitable for, and how it can be used, so wellness at home can feel simple and natural.

Starting with goji berries, we’ll continue sharing familiar herbs, how they’re traditionally understood, and simple ways to bring them into your everyday diet.

Our herbs at the clinic are getting a new look too.

New herbal packaging coming soon. 🌿

Save this post for your at-home wellness pantry.

Do you keep goji berries at home? Comment YES below.

We’ve given our website a full redesign, built to better reflect who we are, and to serve you better.

After a good while of quiet work behind the scenes, the site is finally live, and we wanted you to be among the first to see it.
Inside you can read more about our philosophy, Shaun’s story, and a clearer look at our treatments and pricing.

We’ve got a few more updates coming as we find better ways to show up for our community. Stay close.

Do you know what your body is trying to tell you?

Waking up at the same time every night may not be random. It could be a pattern worth noticing.

In TCM, waking between 1–3 a.m. is often viewed alongside the Liver system—especially if you’ve also been feeling stressed, emotionally tense, mentally busy, or experiencing tired eyes.

The time you wake up is only one clue. Your sleep pattern, emotions, energy, and daily habits help us understand the bigger picture.

Which one best describes your sleep lately?

A|I sleep through the night
B|I wake up but fall back asleep easily
C|Once I wake up, it’s hard to fall asleep again
D|My sleep is light and I dream a lot

Comment A, B, C, or D below 👇
We’ll talk about the most common answer in our next Reel.

We’re growing our Richmond clinic team.

We’re currently looking for a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and a bilingual Front Desk team member to join Shaun’s Zen.

The way people experience care is shaped by more than what happens in a treatment room. It’s also shaped by how they’re welcomed, communicated with, supported, and cared for throughout their time with us. That’s why we’re looking for people who value thoughtful service, clear communication, collaboration, and a genuine interest in health and wellbeing.

Both roles offer the opportunity to work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team in an environment rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern wellness.

For full details on both roles, visit Link in Bio → Open Roles.

To apply, send your resume to [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

UPDATED: Bilingual Front Desk start date Oct 13th.

EP1.|7 Signs Your Body May Be Holding Excess Dampness

Why am I always tired, bloated, and sluggish? 🤔
Can’t lose weight no matter what you do? It might not be fat.

The hidden reason you feel heavy, foggy, and exhausted.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, getting rid of dampness isn’t just about “draining” it away.

You need to strengthen your spleen and digestive system first. 🌿

Try this quick self-check:

✔️ Do you often feel tired, even after enough sleep?
✔️ Do you feel heavy or sluggish throughout the day?
✔️ Do you experience bloating after meals?
✔️ Is your tongue coated with a thick white or yellow layer?
✔️ Do you crave cold drinks, sweets, or comfort foods?
✔️ Do you find it hard to lose weight despite your efforts?
✔️ Do you often feel foggy-headed or lack mental clarity?

If you answered “yes” to several of these, your body may be showing signs of dampness accumulation

Think the TCM treatment is the whole story?
What you do at home matters too.
Stay tuned for the next video. ✨
