Tweens are hard. Let's just leave it at that. Then they get their periods! I want to teach my daughters to be knowledgeable about their bodies and recognize when they are showing signs and symptoms that are "NORMAL" and how to appropriately address them.
It's important to be open and have discussions about this new body and what is going on - meaning having conversations about how heavy her periods are, how long they are, cramping, headaches, food cravings, bloating and acne.
You may not know that these are symptoms of other underlying issues.
They are "NOT NORMAL", THEY ARE COMMON.
Read that again........
Hormones are not the culprit of PMS symptoms.
Unfortunately, when we were tweens the term PMS was used too often to trivialize any and all of women's emotions, which was a problem. You were "hormonal", what an insult. We were taught that these symptoms were just a part of being a "Woman". To deal with them.
Oh we are going to deal with them alright- punch them in the throat, and anyone who says we are just being "hormonal!"
I want you to teach all your woman in your life not to go straight for the Advil, Tylenol or Motrin when they have their periods. These medications are called NSAIDS. They are disruptive to our natural gut bacteria. This is really bad for our overall health.
I want to teach to read between the lines and listen to what your body is saying when it is sounding these symptom alarms, as I call them.
Empower woman to reach for a more natural and holistic approach to treating these and
the ability to adapt to your cycle, respect your vibrant, beautiful and amazing fertile body!
There are many situations where there is the need for medical intervention, let's learn what those are. If you are interested in more information or have a question -drop it below, I'm happy to respond or offer a FREE CONSULTATION😊
DON'T HIDE AWAY FROM THE SCARY CANDY!
There are a few easy guidelines that I implement at home throughout the next week or so, maybe you want to try a couple.
I share these to give you ideas on how to have some control over the sugar rushes and sugar melt downs, but don't worry too much because it's not what you do once and a while, it's what you do everyday that matters the most!
**I try to make sure the kids go treat or treating on a FULL STOMACH and eat all the candy they want tonight!
Yep you heard me right - ALL THE TREATS!🍬🍭
**For the next week they take a couple in their lunches and are kinda monitored through the evenings as well
**Now my number 1 rule is the candy stays out of their rooms!
**Number 2 is an unwritten rule and they do not know this but after about a week/week and a half I start putting away candy on the sly 😯(stashing it somewhere else or away later to enjoy at christmas)
**Slowly they forget about the candy and eventually I put the rest of it away completely😉👏
I’m grateful for THOSE people in my life.❤️

Should Kids have juice?
Well as a kid, we always had juice. Didn’t you? Usually Apple juice. A big can of Allen’s Apple juice. What kind of juice was in your house?
In my opinion and it’s revolves around the fact that juice is just the fluid of a fruit, kids should have VERY limited juice. I’m sure you realize that most of the time the juice we buy also has added unnecessary sugars, artificial flavours, colours and could also have leached chemicals from the packaging it’s in.
Juice contains the same vitamins and natural sugars found in whole fruit but lacks the satiating fiber that aids healthy digestion, good gut health and makes an apple or orange a healthy and satisfying snack.
Juice is less filling without the fiber and easier to overconsume than real fruit, AND it delivers a hefty dose of sugar straight to the bloodstream–which spikes insulin and can lead to weight gain and other health problems, like future Diabetes!
What is worse is when young kids drink juice all day from a bottle or sippy cup, it coats their teeth in cavity-causing sugars and some fruit juices contain more sugar than sweetened soft drinks!
Ultimately before juice offer WATER 💧FIRST then WHOLE FRUIT 🍇🍐🍑🍉
If you do give juice, it’s also recommended to water it down, especially with young children.
How much you ask?
About 1/3 to 1 cup of juice depending on the age of the child and type of juice offered. For example, you could give 1/3 cup of real fruit juice –No additives, No colours AND No Added sugars with 2/3 water, OR 1 cup of good quality juice.
Parents should look for 100% cold press juice, fruit juices, not “fruit drinks” or juice cocktails.
When looking at the label, stay away from the BIG ONES below;
HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP = added unnecessary dangerous sugars, which can cause obesity and related health problems!
ARTIFICAL FLAVORS AND COLOURS = studies show links to neurological BEHAVIORAL disorders!
CARAMEL COLOURING = studies show link to cancer and is banned in several countries to date!
👌LOOK FOR the fewest ingredients possible! = greater chance of getting a better quality, less processed product
By no contest the best juice is made at home, cold pressed, fresh organic juice, especially for those concerned about potential pesticide exposure and unsustainable farming practices. However, most of us are busy parents and this is not always possible. Therefore try to buy quality brands. Yes, you may pay a little more but you would drink less, that is my recommendation.
A few of my favorites that are easy to find include;
👏Bolthouse, 👏Happy Planet, 👏Kiju and 👏Sunwarrior😁
Love, Peace and Nutritious eats!
Happy Friday, enjoy the moments of peace and pleasure and take it all in this weekend 💗
Happy beautiful friday!
Here is my first newsletter of the harvest season.
I've been volunteering at a local organic farm, Winterhill Farm and Garden and it's been an awesome experience! I've met great people and learned a lot and will keep learning through the summer harvest season. With that being said, I'd like to share some of the harvesting items I've been helping with.
Hope you enjoy and learn a little something from these Newsletters.
Try to buy seasonal and local - eat organic - buy an unfamiliar vegetable and learn a new recipe!
Don't worry too much about a few summer treats😜👍
Love Peace and Nutritious Eats!
I love Jane, if you don’t follow her pls reconsider 😉😁
The ruling eliminating the constitutional right to an abortion after almost 50 years was met with celebration and anger across the country. President Biden said the decision was the “realization of extreme ideology” and told Americans: “With your vote, you can act.”
So funny cause it’s so true for me!
Literally took photos of carrots yesterday while in the field harvesting.
Do you have a veggie garden that you are proud of? Do you take selfies in it?🤪👌
Truth
I decided that my mental and emotional well being was more important then money.
My family and my passion for nutrition and wellness out weighted my need for a certain income.
I am so much happier and fulfilled with my life choices now and my family reaps the benefits of a better more loving, rested, mindful mother and wife.
What is your passion?
Why are you not living your passion?
If you are content with those reasons great but if not make a future plan to get there because the world deserves to be blessed with your gift and you deserve to feel vibrant, wholesome and appreciated by the world as well.
Happy Pride Month!
Even my little Daisy is celebrating!
Love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love,,,is LOVE ❤️ ♥️ 💜 💚 💛 💖 💙

February is all about SELF LOVE! How is your self talk? Pay attention to it. Is it critical? Is it kind? Are these words you would say to your 5 year old self? When we speak kind positive words to ourselves our brain develops new pathways to new strategies to cope with difficult situations. We become more confidant, less stressed with less anxiety and are positive happier people, it's science! So replace that negative or critical self talk with a positive one today! Are you on my email blast list yet? Send me a PM with your email
Self Care Sunday is NEW for February! February is for loving yourself with Mental Health 💕 February is mostly recognized for love. Valentine’s Day, flowers, chocolate and also being incredibly cold! ❄ I thought because it's the month of love why not it be about your true love, which is ultimately loving yourself. I'd like to give you the knowledge of opening your heart, focusing real mindfulness and your attention onto yourself to support your journey to true love. YOURSELF. 💖 It may be the most important thing you do for yourself, because if you love yourself, all the other things fall into place. I use a tool box of techniques to help and I want to share them with you and maybe you can also share them with others. In the health and wellness sector we talk a lot about positive thinking, and gratefulness. These are true and meaningful ways to have about our lives and continued healthy perspective. In these times of fear and frustration it is even more important to bring these outlooks into our daily lives. I recommend to dive a bit deeper. Get together your tool box and pull out what you need that day. These are; ♥running on the treadmill instead of actually running away ♥lift weights and burn that internal energy ♥listening and/or dancing to music, this always lifts my spirits! ♥grounding yourself with breath, tea or grounding food ♥a healthy cleansing cry 💗 Any type of meditation, it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming 20 mins! Try 3mins... . ♥breathing techniques, I have a few great strategies ♥self-awareness habits, using mindfulness ♥choice supplements to take to support your stress levels and induce relaxation. Again, these are just a few of the things you can do but there is much to talk about on this topic and I’m so excited to share with you through this month, so stay positivity tuned! Happy self care Sunday.
