Eli was just 10 years old when an ultrasound revealed a tumour on his bladder. Now at 16, he and his family are grateful for the ultrasound technology available at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) that saved his life.

On November 4 & 5, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon, presented by CIBC Wood Gundy, is raising funds for a Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program at JPCH. Eli shares, “If we wouldn’t have had that technology here locally in Saskatchewan, I would have had to travel someplace else, and it really did save my life finding that tumour on my scan.”

You can help kids like Eli receive instant, bedside answers during their toughest moments. Donate today: https://ow.ly/lrHF5100aWv

Thanks to the David & Karen Holst Family Foundation, every donation will once again be matched up to $200,000, doubling your impact.

Meet Miracle Child Elle from, Saskatoon, Sask. 💜 After a normal pregnancy and delivery, Elle’s parents were ecstatic to start this new chapter of parenthood. That excitement changed to concern when Elle’s doctor noticed she looked jaundice, and could feel both her liver and spleen, organs you typically can’t feel during an exam.

They were sent for bloodwork and after receiving the results, Elle had to be admitted to JPCH immediately for further testing. Baby Elle was soon diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, an extremely rare liver disease.

After trying a few treatment options with no success, her only option left was a full liver transplant. Luckily, Elle’s mom McKenzie was a perfect match and was able to donate a segment of her own liver to save her daughter’s life. The transplant went well, and she made a remarkable recovery.

Today, Elle is doing very well. Her mom shares, “Aside from her scars and being immunocompromised as a result of her anti-rejection medication, you'd never know she was once critically ill. She will go on to live a relatively normal life.”

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Radiothon, presented by CIBC Wood Gundy, is on November 4 & 5, and will share the stories of incredible Miracle Children, like Elle. Please follow along and donate to help kids across Saskatchewan.

Meet Miracle Child Ellie from, Saskatoon, Sask. 💜 At the age of seven, sassy and funny, Ellie, who was born with Down Syndrome, became very ill, with shortness of breath and trouble sleeping.

She was rushed to the emergency room at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) and was quickly admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where she was intubated and put into an induced coma. Her lungs had developed severe pneumonia, causing sepsis.

During her stay she had many ultrasounds, x-rays, CT scans, and other diagnostic and interventional treatments, including a tracheostomy and tonsillectomy. Today, Ellie is doing well and back to her usual self. She was determined to gain back her muscle strength, mobility and speech skills. All tasks her medical team was unsure she would ever be able to do again.

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Radiothon, presented by CIBC Wood Gundy, is on November 4 & 5, and will share the stories of incredible Miracle Children, like Ellie. Please follow along and donate to help kids across Saskatchewan.

Thanks to the generosity of Saskatchewan donors, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (JPCHF) is proud to invest $500,000 with Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation - SHRF (SHRF) to support pediatric and maternal research.

JPCHF is extending its partnership with SHRF on their Child and Youth Health Solutions Program that brings together diverse expertise and perspectives from across the province.

Although SHRF and JPCHF have been partners since 2019, SHRF is the newest partner in the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Research Initiative. This Initiative will continue supporting educational and research centres across Saskatchewan, increasing our province’s capacity to discover what’s next in world-class care.

“Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation is pleased to work alongside the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation to increase provincial research capacity,” says Troy Davies, CEO of JPCHF. “Since 2019, JPCHF has entrusted SHRF with more than $2.3 million to invest in pediatric and maternal research initiatives. By prioritizing research today, we ensure Saskatchewan mothers-to-be and children receive the highest quality care now and for generations to come.”

Meet Miracle Child Addie from, Yorkton, Sask. 💜 At nine years old, her family had concerns when they noticed physical changes on the right side of her back. Her parents’ minds were filled with endless questions.

After seeing a specialist at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, Addie was diagnosed with scoliosis, but doctors felt there was something more. An MRI discovered a Chiari malformation that had caused a fluid-filled pocket in her spine, risking permanent spinal cord damage.

Though her parents hoped to avoid major surgery, to maximize her quality of life, Addie required decompression surgery and later a spinal fusion surgery.

Today, Addie is thriving. While she will always have scoliosis, she no longer needs a brace, and her spine is straight. She is still recovering with some physical limitations, but her vibrant personality continues to shine.

The Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Radiothon, presented by CIBC Wood Gundy, is on November 4 & 5, and will share the stories of incredible Miracle Children, like Addie. Please follow along and donate to help kids across Saskatchewan.

In memory of his Grandpa Joe, Paxton donated over $5,600 to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. 💜

Since Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital opened its doors, Paxton has undergone eight surgeries within its walls. Through every challenge, his Grandpa Joe, was one of his biggest supporters. He visited Paxton often, offering love, encouragement and the reminder that Paxton was the strongest boy he knew.

Because JPCH has been such an important part of Paxton’s journey, it was an easy decision for their family to choose the hospital for memorial donations in Grandpa Joe’s honour.

“It is a meaningful way to celebrate his life, kindness and unwavering support while helping other children and families receive the same exceptional care that has meant so much to us. Grandpa Joe’s legacy of love and strength will continue to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Paxton’s mom, Connie.

Thank you, Paxton, for choosing JPCHF to honour Grandpa Joe’s legacy and for supporting kids, moms-to-be and their families across the province.
