That post-vacation pickleball itch got the better of me...🌴

Sprained my ankle yesterday, and today I'm dealing with some swelling and stiffness, but thankfully only sitting at a mild 2/10 pain with zero bruising.

Early movement is key, so I started working on some gentle range of motion exercises today to get things flowing. I will definitely need the guidance from our clinic physio to make sure I bounce back safely!

●Dorsiflexion & Plantarflexion: 2 sets of 10-15reps
●Windshield Wipers: 2 sets of 10-15 reps per direction
●Ankle Circles: 10 clockwise and 10 counter-clockwise
●The Alphabets: A to Z once through

😅Follow to see how I bounce back to play picklebll again!

Note: If you experience an ankle sprain, always get it professionally assessed before starting any rehab exercises!

Most of us spend all day moving in one plane: straight forward and back. We walk forward, sit forward, and rarely take our mid-backs through rotation. Over time, that lack of rotation forces our lower back or neck to compensate.

That's why adding a yoga block to this half-kneeling position is a game-changer. Squeezing the block locks your pelvis in place, ensuring the rotation is mainly coming from your thoracic spine (mid-back) rather than your hips or lower back.

Try this simple test-and-fix:

The Test: See how far you can rotate smoothly to each side without shifting your lower body. Notice any asymmetries?

The Fix: Use these exact movements as a mobility drill before your workouts or after a long day at the desk to unlock stiffness.

📌 Save this video to test your mid-back mobility today, and send it to a friend who spends all day at a desk!

Ever feel like your lower belly is pushing out no matter how many crunches you do? It might actually have nothing to do with body fat or weak abs.

Instead, it often comes down to how your rib cage and pelvis are positioned. When your ribs flare open and your lower back arches, a chain reaction happens: your chest shifts forward, your lumbar curve increases, your pelvis tips into an anterior tilt, and your midsection suddenly looks a lot more prominent.

A little bit of natural curve is totally fine—the real test is whether you can keep your ribs and pelvis stable when your limbs start moving.

💙 AIM for 10-15 reps, 2-3 sets!

Sit-ups strain my neck..so I do these instead. 🤗

If your neck gives out during sit-ups before your abs even start to burn, you’re not alone. Pulling on your head cranks your cervical spine and relies on momentum instead of true core stability.

These 2 deadbug variations keep your head completely relaxed on the mat while demanding full-body tension through your core, lats, and hips.

1️⃣ Banded Deadbug Hold
The Setup: Anchor a resistance band overhead and hold with arms straight.
The Cue: Press your lower back flat into the mat and bring legs to 90°.
The Movement: Extend one leg out slowly while keeping constant tension on the band.

2️⃣ Resisted Deadbug Pullover
The Setup: Place a loop band above your knees and press slightly outward.
The Cue: Keep your head and neck completely relaxed on the floor.
The Movement: Slowly lower a dumbbell overhead, stopping right before your lower back tries to arch off the mat.

Your pelvis is the foundation for almost every lower-body movement! If you’re looking to improve hip control, single-leg stability, or rotational power, try adding these 4 exercises to your routine:

1️⃣ Standing Hip Hikes – Control pelvic movement on one leg.

2️⃣ Resisted Hip Abduction – Strengthen lateral hip stabilizers & outer glutes.

3️⃣ Quadruped Hip Shift – Teach your pelvis to shift & stabilize laterally & rotationally.

4️⃣ Quadruped Resisted Step-Down – Control internal loading & shifting under resistance.

Dumbbell vs. Kettlebell: Which is better for functional core training? 🏋️🔥

The truth is, both are incredible tools—they just challenge your core in slightly different ways!

💡 The Main Difference:

• Dumbbells have a balanced weight distribution, making them great for controlled, predictable resistance and steady stability work.

• Kettlebells have an offset center of mass, which creates extra leverage and forces your stabilizer muscles and core to work harder to control the movement path.

👉 Which one is your go-to tool, if any? 🤣
💡 My take: Some exercises definitely felt better suited for a specific tool.

2 Simple Sciatic Nerve Glides for Lower Body Mobility ⚡️

If you feel tightness, pulling, or stiffness down the back of your leg, gentle nerve gliding can help restore smooth movement and decrease tension.

Here are 2 safe, effective variations to try:
1️⃣ Seated Slump Glide — Great for office breaks or when sitting at your desk.
2️⃣ Supine Knee Extension — Ideal for a controlled, low-stress movement lying down.

💡 The Most Important Rule:
Keep the sensation light (1–2/10 intensity max) — NEVER force into pain! Nerve glides should feel smooth and comfortable, not like an aggressive stretch.

Why your hips (and back) will thank you for doing the Modified Thomas Stretch ⤵️

If you sit for hours at a desk, commute, or spend long periods inactive, your hip flexors spend most of the day in a shortened, tight position. The Modified Thomas Stretch is one of the most effective target stretches for restoring front-hip mobility while keeping your spine safe.

✨ Key Benefits:
1️⃣Relieves Hip Flexor Tightness: Directly targets deep hip flexors (like the psoas and re**us femoris) that get compressed during prolonged sitting.
2️⃣Protects & Supports the Lower Back: By hugging one knee to your chest, your pelvis stays locked and your lower back stays flat, preventing unnecessary arching or strain on your lumbar spine.
3️⃣Improves Posture & Pelvic Alignment: Chronically tight hip flexors can pull the pelvis forward (anterior pelvic tilt). Lengthening these muscles helps restore neutral pelvic alignment.
4️⃣Enhances Hip Extension for Movement: Better hip mobility improves performance in running, walking, squatting, and athletic movements by allowing your leg to extend fully behind you.

Hold: Take slow, deep breaths for 20–30 seconds, then swap sides.
💡 Pro Tip: Keep your core gently engaged so your back stays glued to the surface throughout the entire hold!
