Trouble sleeping lately? Anxiety on the rise? It might not just be the start of the school year. If you're feeling a little less grounded than usual, the change in seasons might be the culprit. Fall is the Vata season when the air and space elements predominate, the weather is cool and changeable, and we can feel it in our minds and bodies. Seasonal changes are when our doshas become imbalanced and allergies can resurface and the cold and flu season starts. To add to this, there is a full moon coming this Saturday (Sept. 26th).

Some tips to keep you healthy during this time:

𝐀𝐯𝐨𝐒𝐝
β€’ Cold or iced foods or drinks (this includes frozen smoothies!)
β€’ Cool summer foods like melons, cucumbers, cold salads
β€’ Over committing and a hectic schedule

𝐀𝐝𝐝
β€’ Warm, spiced drinks - try yummy drinks like spiced apple c***r, golden milk, and teas like ginger, tulsi, and chai
β€’ Warm, cooked meals such as soups, stews, roasted vegetables - if you haven't tried kitchari before, you should!
β€’ Spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, clove, turmeric, ginger, and cumin
β€’ A daily routine with some consistent morning and bedtime practices
β€’ Aromatherapy using grounding oils such as Vetiver, Frankincense, and Sandalwood, and relaxing/sedative florals such as Ylang Ylang, Rose, or Lavender.

A new 2026 review of 17 studies with more than 1,300 postmenopausal women found that aromatherapy showed promise for sleep, hot flashes, mood, anxiety, depression, physical comfort, and sexual function.

Lavender was the most studied oil, usually inhaled before bed. Other promising oils included neroli, common sage, fennel, lemon, peppermint, and blends with lavender, geranium, rose, rosemary, bergamot, or lemon.

Most studies used inhalation, but aromatherapy massage appeared to have stronger effects for overall and psychological symptoms, likely because it combines aroma, touch, relaxation, and skin absorption.

The evidence is still preliminary, but the pattern is encouraging: essential oils may offer gentle, practical support during menopause.

Ayurveda recognizes the body as an intelligent, self regulating system.
When digestion is strong, tissues are nourished, and channels are clear, the body naturally moves toward balance.

Healing does not come from forcing change. It comes from removing obstacles and providing the right conditions for the body to do what it already knows how to do.

Support the system, and the system responds.
