Ten years ago we built Origin Optometry in Nanaimo. We also designed it for a day that hadn’t come yet.
Dr. Jesse Petreman just called us back for phase two. Because the original layout planned for this, we can build the new space next door while his clinic stays open, then open up one wall and join the two.
The real challenge isn’t the build itself. It’s matching the colors and patient flow of work we finished a decade ago, without interrupting a single day of appointments.

The concrete beam in this staff room wasn’t going anywhere. So the cabinets moved around it.

Vida Medical Clinic has 7 exam rooms, 2 staff areas and a doctor’s office. Most of what makes it work sits in places a floor plan doesn’t show.

Before you hire any contractor, including us, ask these three questions.
Who’s physically on-site every day, not just the person who stops by. The last project they built in your exact discipline, optometry and dental have almost nothing in common, and whoever’s building yours should already know that. And how they handle change orders, priced and approved before the work starts, not surprise-billed after.

Most contractors hardly get a call from a company this size. And when they do, we definitely take care of them.

TELUS Health needed two clinics that held its brand standard exactly, no drift between locations. We built both: downtown Vancouver, and a second on Vancouver Island.

We built both!

That’s the part worth noticing more than the moss wall or the millwork, even though those are real too. A national telecom doesn’t repeat a contractor by accident.

A 900 square foot optometry clinic, and every square foot of it had to carry TELUS Health’s brand.

This is Babylon by TELUS Health, downtown Vancouver. Patients walk in already knowing the name, from their phone plan, their internet bill, their doctor’s office. That recognition is worth something, but only if the space lives up to it. A clinic that looks like an afterthought undoes trust a national brand spent years building.

So the build wasn’t about square footage. It was about making a small footprint read as exactly as considered as the brand behind it.

Origin Optometry, phase two.

We built the first half of this clinic ten years ago. It was our third project. When we designed it we had a feeling the doctor would want the other side one day, so we built it in a way that could be opened up later.

Ten years later client called. Now we’re building phase two while the clinic keeps seeing patients twenty feet away, and when it’s done one wall comes out and the two halves become one.

Most owners think the final walkthrough is where the problems get found.

By then every trade has moved to another job, and getting them back takes weeks nobody planned for.

Billy is at Goshen Clinic in Port Moody, in the final finishing stages. Patching, caulking, and marking every spot where a trade needs to come back and fix their own work. All of it before the owner ever walks the space.

The goal is that when they do their walkthrough, there is nothing left to find.

Nobody puts this in a proposal. Every owner remembers whether they got it.
