A legacy is not a trophy. It is a way of choosing.

For generations the Aga Khan Studs have bred with the pedigree first and the market last: the right horse for the mare, not the fashionable name for the sale ring. Families are kept, even through quiet years. Matings are argued over, then waited on.

Princess Zahra has said it plainly: everything is a matter of patience and reflection.

That is the idea beneath the green and red. Not haste. Not fashion. A long faith in a family of horses, carried from her great-grandfather to her father, and now in her hands.

is what that faith looks like when it arrives. A homebred. Sea The Stars and Daryakana. Two Arcs, and a century still unfinished.

🐎🏆 Shergar is officially a British Racing Hall of Fame inductee!

Nearly half a century later, the legend lives on. In 1981, Shergar won the Epsom Derby by a record 10 lengths, then took the Irish Derby and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Bred and owned by His Highness the Aga Khan IV, he's still one of the most iconic racehorses ever.

The panel's decision was unanimous. He will be honoured at Ascot on Qatar Racing British Champions Day, Saturday, October 17.

Some horses are remembered for their story. Shergar is remembered for his greatness. 💚❤️

Daryz💚❤️💚

Some victories are not only won on the day. They arrive already carrying a name, a set of colours, and a hundred years of care.

At Longchamp, Princess Zahra stood in the victory of the green and red her father made known to the world, and the day belonged as much to memory as to the horse.

Daryz had done what few ever do. She knew who would have understood it best.🤗

A legacy does not end when the one who built it is gone. It grows, quietly, in the hands of those who keep it, and in a horse who seemed to know exactly what he had been asked to carry.

Twelve keeps a quiet seam between two dawns. Shah Karim on one side of it. Shah Rahim on the other. Not two lights, but one light changing garments.

What was given is not stored. It is carried. A covenant does not close when a name is renewed; it opens, and the path of knowledge answers as if it had been waiting.

The earlier birthday leans toward the later. The later answers with a living face. Between them, twelve, small and exact, holds the vow.
The Imam is present. The covenant is alive. The light does not cease.

Fear thrives in uncertainty. Hope transforms uncertainty into possibility.

Mawlana Shah Karim reminds us that progress begins not with certainty, but with the courage to believe in a better future. When hope replaces fear, hearts open, communities unite, and humanity finds the strength to build, serve, and uplift one another.

At the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Princess Zahra Aga Khan carries forward a legacy her father held dear: care for the thoroughbred, the breed, and the people around them. Across four generations, the Arc has been less a tally of wins than a tradition of stewardship, still lived with joy by the whole team.

On this day, Oct 5, 2016, Prince Karim Aga Khan, about Afghanistan, he shared at the Brussels Conference:

“Supporting civil society is essential.”

That commitment continues. In 2025, programmes reached over 4 million people in 20 Afghan provinces — including about 80,000 learners through Aga Khan Foundation education work.
