A FELT SENSE // It has been a year and a half. Or maybe it has been three and a half years. Or maybe it is the past twenty years.

But as I sit right now looking at the colours of this Mother Earth, with my parents, sister beside, the sound of our kids ... knowing the rest of my family is gathering to say thanks and appreciation for each other, that a deep settling sinks in.

The chair that I am sitting in receives a bit more of me. A lot more than 20 years ago.

The ocean waves are massaging the sand a bit louder this morning. The morning coffee is warming my mouth and down to the belly.

I am thankful 🤍

Our beloved mummu (grandmother) passed away a few days ago. Death, passing away and the soul’s journey have become more and more of a discussion in my life and I am so thankful for that. I got to see my grandmother’s last few breaths as she made her way to the other side. I am so thankful I got to be beside my mom while her mom did the last part of her journey on this side 🌏

Here and now ~ tässä ja nyt. Not looking into the future too much but practising seeing, hearing, feeling what is right now.

Thankful of you who keep reaching out and receiving bits of my heart through the lens of my work. Which is so much more than ‘work’. Body of work ❤️

Leaning into the here and now. The smells, sounds and touch of the loved ones. The ordinary things that become extraordinary once we leave this earth

TRUTH + RECONCILIATION // Pain, tightness, tiredness are just a couple of sensations I woke up with today.

It is heavy just like grief.

If you feel some, any, similar sensations, see if you can sit with it. Go to the edges only if sensations are flooding in.

Just sit with it. And even better if you are witnessed because that’s how we heal. We are seen and together we can renegotiate a shift. A shift towards something new. Something kinder. Something more supportive.

HEALING ASPECTS OF LAUGHTER // The moment you drop into that belly laughter you connect to healing. You connect to the moment, present time and place.

Laughter melts the armour
Laughter is confirmation of safety
Laughter is orienting to the present moment

We are witnessed when we laugh which is crucial in healing. Trauma doesn’t happen alone so this process of being witnessed is needed to also heal. There are people and moments in time that can drop you right into this spot in your belly when the laughter is unstoppable.

Social nervous system is part of our parasympathetic nervous system #polyvagaltheory and that’s where co-regulation happens. We are seen. We are heard. We are understood.

When was the last time you felt that belly laughter? Some of my favourite memories when I dropped into that feeling are in these slides where my armour had melted and a felt sense of ‘I was seen’ had filled me 🤍

SOMATIC HEALING // Healing is not about the type of yoga mat you have. It is not about the reps or the sets.

Healing happens with you ✨

Healing starts to take place once you feel safe. Safe to let go of patterns that no longer serve you. Patterns that kept you safe but now there is a renegotiation happening within you and there might be a spark of curiosity of ‘what if’s’ :

What if I let that go?
What if I try it?
What if I fail?
What if I feel good?

Healing is breaking open. It is an active state where you return into your body and start taking up space within it.

Healing is about coming back home ✨

BODY + OVERWHELM // Feeling of overwhelm is common but understanding what your body is attempting to process during the process of overwhelm is under spoken.

Overwhelm is unsupported emotion.

Take a moment to sit with that.

There is a deep desire within you to be seen, heard and felt. Overwhelm needs to know what support feels like.

I chose today to cancel a client and be with my child who was feeling overwhelmed with her responsibilities. Maybe as her parent I had put too much on her. Maybe a new school year is starting to weigh in. Whatever the reason, whatever the story is her body’s nervous system was screaming.

So I let go of my agenda and sat with her. Hugged her. Told her she is loved and she is so brave.

She cave in, let her held breath go and together we walked to school.

We need each other now more than ever. How could you support your unsupported emotions today? #bodycoach

My healing from chronic pain started when I realized the pain was my respond to trauma.

My body was frozen in time.

My body was carrying unsupported emotions and they were creating pressure in my joints, tissue and spirit.

Freeze response is common and it can show up as very little capacity to add more to our load. We often walk away from conflicts which pulls us deeper into freeze.

A responsive nervous system is not always calm. Calm for someone who is stuck in freeze, can be tricky. We love calm, steady. But often is our default mode and often makes us even more numb.

Life is active and there is always a respond within us. I needed to expand my capacity to this activation and uncouple my fear of pain and moving.

And so I did.

We need to feel that our body is able to live those active waves by stretching our capacity for effort.

I hope you are experiencing these waves. And if not, I encourage you to be curious around it.

What is your default respond to activation?

Many of us have lived more sedentary lifestyle due to the pandemic and that’s felt within our nervous system.

A healthy nervous system is active. It is not always calm. A healthy nervous system will respond to stress and the person who honks the horn at you. A healthy nervous system is not numb. It rides the waves and some days those waves are very active.

So we need to practise that. We need to feel that our body is able to live those active waves by stretching our capacity for effort. So that when you have to run for the bus, your body knows what to do. We need a felt sense that the body can stay focused for the meeting and also settle at the end of the day.

A gentle reminder that RiiVIVE TRAINING doors will close in five days. We would love to have you join us to train to ride the waves 🤍 #bodycoach

Your body makes sense.

Yes, it does. In all it’s aches, tension, and pain. Your body makes sense.

I lived in that chronic pain for a decade.
However, I know there are also moments that your body can have a felt sense of strength. These two can coexists.

RiiVIVE TRAINING was born because I didn’t want to believe I couldn’t enjoy a good sweat. A sense that my body could train again at a level that gave me hope, power and revival.
