Meet Our current fellow Dr. Taiba Alrasheed, MD, FRCSC.
Dr. Alrasheed completed her residency training at the acclaimed Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto in June 2012. She received her Royal College of Surgeons of Canada certification in Plastic Surgery in May 2012. During her residency, Dr. Alrasheed was the recipient of the esteemed D.R. Wilson Teaching Award 2011. This award is given to surgical residents who are rated the most outstanding teachers by undergraduate medical students. She was also awarded the Educational Foundation of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons 2011 funding, towards the Operation Rainbow mission to India from March 2 -12, 2011.
Dr. Alrasheed has recently completed a one-year clinical fellowship in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Alrasheed performed numerous breast, extremity, and head and neck reconstructive procedures for cancer patients under the tutelage of some of the most renowned reconstructive surgeons in the world. During her fellowship, Dr. Alrasheed was involved in robotic assisted microsurgery education where she trained co-fellows and other microsurgeons in robotically assisted microsurgery procedures. She has presented her training methodology and robotic research at multiple international conferences, including the Minimally Invasive Surgery Week 2013 in Reston, Virginia, the 3rd Annual Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) meeting in Strasburg, France (2013) and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery in Kauai, Hawaii (2014).
After six years of intensive training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Alrasheed joined the Aesthetic Training Program at the Yorkville Institute of Plastic Surgery, to refine and perfect her aesthetic skills and gain detailed experience and operative proficiency in advanced aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr. Alrasheed looks forward to integrating her meticulous experience in microsurgery in producing the most refined essence of beauty.
