Dear younger me…

I look at this picture of you, and I wish I could reach through time, sit beside you, hold your hand and tell you…

You are going to make it. ❤️

I wish I could have been there for you through everything you went through—the things you endured quietly, the moments you felt afraid, alone, unheard or unsure of your own worth.

I would tell you that none of what you were going through would define the rest of your life.

I would tell you, “One day, you will find your voice. One day, you will understand just how strong you are. And one day, the very things that tried to silence you will become part of the reason you speak so loudly for others.”

I wish I could protect you.
I wish I could comfort you.
I wish I could give you the love and reassurance you needed back then.

But maybe, in some way, I’m doing that now.

Every time I choose myself.
Every time I speak my truth.
Every time I help another woman find her voice.
Every time I give myself the grace I didn’t know how to give that younger girl.

I am finally showing up for you.

And when I look at you now, I don’t see weakness.

I see the beginning of the woman I was always meant to become. ❤️

WHAT A DAY! ❤️✨ FROM ALL OF US AT S.H.E. WEST INDIAN — THANK YOU!
As we celebrate S.H.E. West Indian’s First Anniversary – Bollywood Retro Nite, our Board of Directors is filled with gratitude.

Today would simply not have been possible without the incredible people and businesses who stood behind S.H.E. West Indian — those who sponsored, donated, volunteered, performed, worked tirelessly and believed in our mission.

To ALL of our sponsors, donors and community partners — THANK YOU! Your generosity allows us to continue building meaningful programs and opportunities for women, youth, families and our community. When you support S.H.E. West Indian, you are helping us turn our mission into action. ❤️
To our amazing volunteers — thank you for showing up, stepping in wherever you were needed and working so hard behind the scenes. Every contribution, big or small, helped make today possible, and we appreciate every single one of you.

To our speakers and performers — thank you for sharing your voices, your stories, your talents and your energy with our guests.

A very special thank you to our incredible karaoke singers, who so generously donated their time and talent and sang their hearts out during dinner! 🎤❤️ You brought so much joy, music and wonderful energy to the room.

We are incredibly grateful that you chose to share your gifts with us.
To our incredible DJ Kevin, our MC Richard Aziz, our red carpet hosts, photographer, videographer and media supporters — thank you for bringing the energy, capturing the memories and helping us create an unforgettable celebration.

To the Omani Event Centre and its wonderful staff — thank you for welcoming S.H.E. West Indian and helping us bring our celebration to life.

A HUGE and very special recognition goes to Dexterity Events! 👏❤️
Your hard work,
dedication and initiative throughout this entire process were exceptional. You didn't simply wait to be told what needed to be done — you saw what was needed and made it happen. You solved problems, handled countless details, stepped in wherever necessary and treated this event with the same care and commitment as if it were your own.

From the planning stages to the final details, your professionalism, creativity, reliability and willingness to go above and beyond made an enormous difference.

Planning an event? We wholeheartedly recommend Dexterity Events! They are professional, hardworking, dependable and truly wonderful to work with.

Dexterity Events, THANK YOU for helping S.H.E. West Indian bring our Bollywood Retro Nite vision to life! 🌺❤️

We would also like to give a very special thank you to Marlyn, Marsha and the beautiful bride-to-be, who generously made and donated ALL of the appetizers for today's celebration. ❤️
What makes this generosity even more meaningful is that Marlyn's daughter is getting married in just TWO WEEKS! 💍❤️ With a wedding right around the corner and so much to prepare, they still made the time to be here and support S.H.E. West Indian.
That is friendship. That is generosity. That is community. ❤️
And a special thank you to Thomas Maeck, our Treasurer and valued member of the S.H.E. West Indian Board of Directors. ❤️

Thomas has been there through every stage of this event — from the planning and decision-making to the countless errands, boxes, last-minute changes and all the things that happen behind the scenes that no one ever sees.
And yes… he also happens to be our President Sandy’s husband, which means he probably received more than his fair share of “Thomas, just ONE more thing!” requests! 😂❤️

Thomas, thank you for wearing both hats so well — as a dedicated member of our Board and as the incredibly supportive husband standing beside our President. Your commitment to S.H.E. West Indian and everything you do behind the scenes are deeply appreciated.

And finally, to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who purchased a ticket and joined us today — THANK YOU!

Because of you, we are celebrating our First Anniversary with a COMPLETELY SOLD-OUT EVENT! 🎉

You didn't simply purchase a ticket to an event.

You supported a mission.
You helped us continue building programs, creating opportunities and strengthening a community where people can feel supported, connected, represented and empowered.

Today is more than an anniversary.
It is a celebration of Strength. Healing. Empowerment. Culture. Community.
From our entire Board of Directors:
THANK YOU for believing in S.H.E. West Indian.
Happy First Anniversary, S.H.E. West Indian! 🌺❤️
This is only the beginning.
With gratitude,
S.H.E. Wear Indian Board of Directors

❤️✨ THIS IS THE POWER OF COMMUNITY. ✨❤️

What an incredible evening!

As we reflect on S.H.E. West Indian’s First Anniversary – Bollywood Retro Nite, there is one thing we know for certain: none of it would have been possible without our community.

This was more than an anniversary celebration. It was a fundraiser with a purpose — raising funds to help S.H.E. West Indian deliver programs and workshops for women and youth beginning this fall and beyond.

To every person who purchased a ticket, bought raffle tickets, made a donation and generously dug into your pockets to support our mission — THANK YOU! 🙏🏽❤️

And did our guests ever show up! 💃🏽🕺🏽✨

You came dressed in your Bollywood best, you laughed, celebrated, sang and danced — and many of you stayed on that dance floor right until closing! Even when our feet were tired, the party kept going! 😂

🎶✨ A HUGE thank you to DJ Kevin, his sound crew and Prime Media Group for creating an unforgettable atmosphere. From the fantastic music that kept the dance floor packed to the sound, lighting and setup, you brought the energy and kept it going all night long. What an incredible team! Mala HarripersadSue Ann Baksh Lorray Daymeetra D Jaggan Ojcap Arts

🍹🌶️ To MixWithATwist Bartenders — THANK YOU for your professionalism, fantastic service and for bringing our signature drink to life!

Our S.H.E. GOT SPICE – Spicy Mango Margarita was an ASTOUNDING SUCCESS! 🔥🥭🍹 Judging by how many people came back for another one, we think this S.H.E. signature might just have to stay! 😉

🌟 And to the phenomenal Dexterity Event Planners — ladies, YOU ABSOLUTELY OUTDID YOURSELVES!

The décor. The ambience. The tables. The details. The coordination. The countless hours of preparation and hard work behind the scenes.

You took our vision and transformed the room into something truly spectacular — fit for a Bollywood movie star! ✨

Your creativity, initiative, professionalism and dedication could be seen in every corner of that room. Thank you for going above and beyond to make our first anniversary so beautiful and memorable.

🎤✨ And a very special thank you to our incredible karaoke singers! You generously donated your time, brought your beautiful voices and incredible energy, and sang your hearts out during dinner. You added such a fun, warm and memorable touch to the evening, and our guests absolutely loved it! Thank you for sharing your talent and helping make our Bollywood Retro Nite even more special. ❤️🎶

✨ To Omani Event Centre, thank you for providing the beautiful venue for this milestone celebration and for all of your assistance in helping us bring the evening together.

And to our incredible sponsors, donors and community partners — your support means more than we can adequately express.

Some of you have supported S.H.E. West Indian throughout our entire first year. You have donated funds, products, food, prizes, services, time and resources because you believe in what we are trying to build.

We could not do this work without you.

To our volunteers, speakers, performers, singers, entertainers, media partners and everyone who worked behind the scenes — THANK YOU. Whether your contribution was big or small, you were part of making this evening possible.

For a nonprofit organization like ours, community support is what allows the work to happen.

Every ticket.
Every donation.
Every sponsorship.
Every volunteer hour.
Every person who showed up.

It all matters. ❤️

We celebrated ONE YEAR of S.H.E. West Indian, but more importantly, together we raised funds that will help us continue creating opportunities, programs and workshops for the people we serve.

Last night showed us exactly what can happen when community comes together for community.

From all of us at S.H.E. West Indian, THANK YOU for believing in our mission, supporting our first year and helping us build what comes next.

We are just getting started.
