I have always asked that you stay home if anyone in your family is sick, but please note these changes as well.
"Effective immediately, everyone living with someone who has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting their results must self-isolate until confirmation has been received the person does not have COVID-19. If a recommendation is given for someone to be tested and they do not, that person and everyone they live with must self-isolate— either for 14 days from the last time they were in contact (if the symptomatic person can isolate away from other household members), or for 14 days if the person cannot be separated from the rest of the household."
The changes also apply to anyone in the same household as someone designated a high-risk contact. Other household members are being asked to stay home for the length of the person’s quarantine, except for essential reasons. High-risk contacts must isolate for 14 days from last exposure, even with a negative COVID-19 test.
Wednesday update continues positive trends, with active cases decreasing despite new cases and fatalities.
I was a bit curt with my last post. When the first lockdown hit I had posted that everything was ok only to have to recant and I didn't want that to happen this time around. My regulatory board was awaiting further clarification this morning to know for sure how this lockdown would look for us.
So yes, regulated healthcare (RMTs, chiropractors, physiotherapists, etc) are considered essential and may remain open during the current State of Emergency in Ontario.
As you know, there is a covid screening email sent 7 days before your appointment. Please note that I first check for these screenings on Mondays and it would be great if they were filled in when received. If anything changes after filling them in, or even a few days after your appointment, please contact me either by PM, phone, or email. (613-684-0246, [email protected])
Thank you so much for your support during this past year! I greatly appreciate those who have contacted me to ask if their situation warranted postponing their treatments. It makes it easier to come to work knowing that we have each other's back in keeping our community safe.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
The lockdown measures announced today do NOT affect massage therapy.

Kids home and constantly looking for snacks? We can help! The breakfast and snacks program is available to all school-aged children and teens.
RMT's are permitted to work during the lockdown, but I do have a few things to ask of you all.
1. Please, if you're getting together with extended family or friends for Christmas or New Year wait 14 days before coming in.
2. Massage during lockdown is supposed to be for those in pain and in real need.
It's not the holiday most of us planned, but I hope you all have a lovely day. I'm not sure yet how the lockdown will affect my business, but as soon as I know I'll post.
I have turned my online booking off for NEW patients until at least the end of January. If you have seen me before, you already have a profile and will still be able to log in to make bookings. I can tell you your username if you forget, but I can't see your password. You should be able click for a password reset, but if not I can send it as well. Family members of existing patients and anyone with a current gift certificate will be accepted. Thank you for your cooperation.

Online booking is still suspended for the next few weeks, but I am taking bookings again.
We're getting closer! I just spoke with my distributor and they're expecing the masks to come in late next week. Once they are in I can do a deep clean to the clinic so it is fresh and I can start calling people to begin treating July 7th.
I won't be able to see as many people in a day, so it'll take me a while to get through the list. I'm expecting to have my online booking disabled until the end of July. If you would like to be put on the list or are unsure if you are on it, please PM, text (613-684-0246) or email ([email protected]).
On Wednesday, May 27th news outlets announced that massage therapy and other healthcare practitioners could reopen immediately. Massage Therapists were given no advance warning ahead of the announcement and, indeed, did not receive our official notice until 9pm that evening.
Throughout this shutdown we have been told repeatedly “all healthcare professionals in Ontario are restricted from providing anything other than emergency/urgent care. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Massage Therapy is not emergency/urgent care, so Massage Therapists should not practice”. We are now allowed to gradually resume our practices and have been instructed to limit the number of people we see in a day.
There are several new health and safety precautions we must adhere to before opening our doors. Attached to our 9pm email were a number of documents outlining:
- mandatory PPE training I need to complete
- mandatory PPE I need to purchase
- changes to charts, signs, and logs I need to prepare and place in the clinic
- a clinic room that needs to be stripped, disinfected, and readied
I have ordered my PPE but as it is unusually difficult to source, my supplier is not expecting to fulfill the shipment until mid-June at their best guess. I will be unable to schedule appointments until they arrive. At this point I’m hoping for an early July return.
It will not be business as usual when I reopen. A few of the mandated changes include:
- Both myself and the patient/client will have to wear face masks before, during, and after the treatment.
- I have pre-screening questions that I must ask before the treatment.
- Everyone entering the building will be required to wash/sanitize their hands upon entry.
- After the treatment, any surface that has been touched must be disinfected.
- I will not be allowing anyone into the clinic who does not already have an appointment. The front door will be locked.
At this time I have turned off my online booking. Those whose appointments were cancelled due to the shut down will be contacted first before the online booking will be turned on. Appointment times might be different as I will have to schedule more time between appointments to disinfect. As I won’t have as many patients per day, I will be unable to take new patients until I am sure I can handle demand from my current clientele.
I’m sorry for any disappointment. This is a difficult time for everyone.
Hi everyone, I wanted to give a little update as I'm starting to get questions about reopening. I am mandated shut by my governing College, the CMTO. They get their orders from the Ministry of Health. The last update I've received has said we are mandated closed until midnight on May 29th (Friday), but realistically I am expecting this to be extended again.
The CMTO have given us a rough draft of new measures to follow once we are open and some of these things such as special cleaning supplies and masks are on back order or currently unavailable to non-front line workers. I am working on getting my supplies together, but even if we are given the green light for this weekend, it's going to take some time before I'm ready to reopen.
As soon as I am ready to go, I will be phoning everyone who was booked during the shutdown before reopening my online booking.
Hopefully this answers a few questions for you.
Contactless options - emailed gift certificates to print at home or email directly to Mom and etransfers to pay. Mother's Day has never been easier!
Everyone's excited to get back to their massages! 😂
I'm still closed and am unsure if I'll be allowed to open in the 2nd or 3rd phase. Whenever that occurs, I'll post here and phone everyone who had appointments during our time off.

Well I won't be open for next week (March 31st) as hoped. Fingers crossed for June? Stay home, stay healthy in the meantime.
It doesn't look like I will only be shut for one more week. Months are seeming more likely. I cannot believe how quickly things have moved. Can you believe it's only been a week since schools were announced to be closed past March Break?
Please note, I have decided to CLOSE my door for the next 2 weeks, until MARCH 31st, and will reassess at that time. As of right now, my online booking says "call to book" up to and including April 4th just to be safe.
I will be contacting each of my scheduled patients soon with details on rescheduling options.
The COVID-19 situation in Ontario has changed incredibly fast over the last few days. This decision was not made lightly. I apologise for the inconvenience but trust you understand the situation.
