One little word can change the way we talk to ourselves. Yet!

Our brains are capable of learning, adapting and building new neural connections throughout our lives. That's neuroplasticity.

The next time you catch yourself saying I can't, try adding "yet". It leaves room for growth, encourages you to keep trying, and reminds you that your abilities aren't necessarily fixed.

Your brain is always learning from the way you talk to yourself. Make sure you're teaching it something worth believing! Happy fun fact Friday

Cobra can feel like we're supposed to lift as high as possible, but that's not really the goal.

Instead of thinking up, think forward first. Lengthen your chest forward creating space through your spine and then gently begin to elevate. If you feel pinching or compression in your lower back, back off. Maybe your Cobra is lower today and that's perfectly fine.

We're not trying to force the biggest backbend we're learning how to move into extension while honouring what our back is telling us.

Having trouble sleeping, because your brain just won't stop thinking?

This week's fun fact friday is little sleep hack I've used for years. Turns out there's a name for very similar technique, cognitive shuffling.

The idea is simple, give your brain random unrelated things to think about, instead of letting it get caught up in worrying, planning and replaying the day.

OR you could come to LAKESIDE, sit back by the water and let the lake do some of the work, either way... A apple, ant, airplane... 😓

We modify things all the time, like using a stool to reach a high shelf or changing how we put on our shoes. That is not failure, it is just problem solving.

Yoga is the same. There is more than one way to do a forward fold. If your lower back is sensitive, you can hinge at the hips with your hands on your thighs, bend your knees or bring the floor up with blocks.

The point isn't touching your toes. It's keeping your body moving in ways that support your day-to-day life. So modify as needed, protect your back, knees and hamstrings and keep showing up.

Processing grief is a new thing for me and as Im taking people's advice on what to do or not do. I am learning more about myself and my mom.

This is definitely an interesting season of life.

Share how you processed your grief. Trying to learn techniques for Processing death is where I am at right now.

Any recommendations for books? Podcasts?

We know when our phones are running low, but do we recognize the signs in ourselves?

Mental fatigue can show up in our focus, motivation, patience, and even in how much effort everyday things seem to take.

Yoga has taught me that taking a break, isn't quitting. It is recharging, sometimes child's pose is exactly what I need. And sometimes its a paintbrush.

Today, my recharge, looks like a paintbrush, some quiet and a little time to myself.

What are your low battery indicators? And what do you do to recharge?

Modifications are not "less than" poses. They are how we build the strength, balance and confidence to get there.

Warrior 3 into Half Moon... use the blocks, take your time, and build a foundation. Use a wall or whatever it takes to give your body the support it needs to be ready to stand alone.

Some poses take weeks or even months to develop. Be gentle with your expectations and enjoy the process.

Not everything that gets your attention deserves your engagement.

Pratyahara, one of the eight limbs of yoga, is the practice of noticing what pulls at our attention without automatically engaging with it. The sounds, the notifications, the conversations, even our own thoughts can be there without us having to follow them.

Yoga isn't always about tuning the world out sometimes it's about learning what deserves our attention and what we can simply let pass.
