When was the last time you gave yourself permission to do something simply because it made you happy?

I've come to realize that wanting a little quiet time isn't selfish. Neither is spending an afternoon doing something you love.

We don't always have to please everyone else.

Sometimes we're so busy thinking about yesterday or worrying about tomorrow that we forget to enjoy the life we're living right now.

But what happens when we loosen our grip on those old stories and give ourselves permission to explore?

Maybe you'll discover you love painting, even if you've never held a paintbrush. Perhaps you'll plant a garden, write a poem, dance around your kitchen, or prepare a wonderfully decadent dinner just because you feel like it!

And who says it has to be perfect?

Some of life's most beautiful moments happen when we stop worrying about getting everything right.

Be thankful for the goodness already in your life, and leave a little room for something wonderful you haven't discovered yet.

What is something you've always wanted to try, just for the joy of it?

I've learned something over the years that has helped me accomplish so many of my dreams.

I begin by imagining that I've already achieved what I want. I close my eyes, picture it happening, and most importantly, I allow myself to FEEL what it would be like to already be there.

The happiness. The excitement. That wonderful feeling of accomplishment.

Then I ask myself, what's one little thing I can do today to move closer to that dream?

And I do it again tomorrow.

It sounds so simple, doesn't it? But those little steps have taken me to places I once only imagined.

Of course, life doesn't always go according to plan. Sometimes we take a step backwards, and that's okay too.

As a Life & Wellness Coach, I love helping my clients discover what they truly want, believe in what's possible, and find the confidence to take those little steps toward it.

Because sometimes all we need is someone to believe in us until we learn to believe in ourselves.

Now I'm curious... if you could close your eyes today and imagine one dream already coming true, what would it be?

Remember, little baby steps will always get us there.

Have you ever loved someone so much that you kept trying to help them find their happiness?

I have.

Over the years, I've learned that not everyone travels through life the same way.

Some of us experience difficult beginnings and somehow find the courage to create a different future.

Others carry their childhood hurts for years, sometimes for a lifetime.

And when we love those people, we want so desperately to help them see the beauty that life still has to offer.

We encourage them. We listen. We offer advice. We try again and again.

And sometimes, despite all our love, nothing changes.

I used to think that if I just found the right words, offered enough encouragement, or loved someone a little harder, I could help them find their way.

But life has taught me something beautiful.

We can love someone without carrying their pain.

We can believe in their ability to change without making ourselves responsible for that change.

And perhaps most importantly, we can accept that everyone is walking their own path, at their own pace.

Some people are ready to climb the mountain. Others are still trying to find their footing.

And that's okay.

We don't have to stop loving them.

We don't have to close our hearts.

We can simply...

Love them from where we are.

With kindness. With compassion. With understanding.

And with enough love for ourselves to continue living our own beautiful lives.

Have you ever had to learn that loving someone doesn't mean you have to fix their life?

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I've been thinking about how much my idea of gratitude has changed over the years.

When I was younger, I thought making money, being number one in my industry, and having a successful career were some of the most important things in life.

Looking back, I understand why.

I grew up very poor, and I think somewhere along the way, I began to believe that being successful meant I would never have to worry about having enough again.

And I worked very hard to achieve that success.

But something interesting has happened as I've grown older.

The things I once thought were so important have slowly made room for something else.

A beautiful friendship.

Being able to give back to someone who needs a little kindness.

Learning to be more patient with myself and others.

Spending quiet moments surrounded by nature, appreciating the sunshine, the flowers, and all the beautiful living things around me.

Caring deeply for others.

And finding a little more balance in my day, with time to simply enjoy being alive.

I still believe in having dreams, working hard and finding success.

But I've come to realize that a rich life and a life filled with riches are not necessarily the same thing.

And perhaps that's one of the beautiful gifts of growing older.

We begin to appreciate things we may have hurried past when we were younger.

This Thanksgiving, I'm especially grateful for those little things that have become so big in my heart.

I'm curious... has what you're grateful for changed as you've grown older?

Wishing you a beautiful Thanksgiving filled with love, kindness and little moments of joy.

When was the last time you did something just for the pure joy of it?

If you're feeling a little down, think back to when you were younger.

What was something you loved doing that made you feel completely free?

For me, it was riding my bicycle along a beautiful parkway, feeling the breeze blowing through my hair and the warmth of the sunshine on my face.

Sometimes I would stop, find a lovely little spot, and enjoy a picnic I had packed just for myself.

I would sit quietly, surrounded by nature, appreciating the beauty and joy of all the living things around me.

Those were some of my happiest moments. And interestingly, they were also the moments when my most creative thoughts would come to me.

No rushing. No expectations. No need to be anything other than myself.

Just me, my free spirit, and the beautiful world around me.

And here's something I have always believed.

There is no shame in doing things on your own. Sometimes the most beautiful moments in life happen when we learn to enjoy our own company.

You don't have to wait for someone else to join you to experience the joy of living.

So this Thanksgiving weekend, why not let your free spirit out?

Ride a bicycle. Pack yourself a picnic. Take a walk somewhere beautiful. Dance to a favourite song.

Do something that reminds you of the joy you felt when you were younger.

It doesn't have to cost anything, and it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else.

It just has to bring you joy.

And while we're giving thanks for the many blessings in our lives, let's remember to be thankful for the freedom to simply be ourselves.

What is something you loved doing when you were younger that you would love to do again?

With kindness,

We are all learning how to live life.

Some days we get it right.

Some days we don't.

We change our minds.

We outgrow things we once thought we wanted.

We make mistakes, begin again, and sometimes take a few steps backwards.

And maybe that's the part we forget.

Nobody has life completely figured out.

We're all just learning about ourselves, about each other, about what matters and what doesn't.

So maybe we could give ourselves, and each other, a little more grace along the way.

After all, we're all doing life for the very first time.

My birthday may be over, but my birthday wish isn’t. ❤️

I have loved sharing my Birthday Kindness Wish with you this weekend.

It started with one simple thought…what if, for my birthday, we could put a little more kindness into the world?

But why stop now?

Kindness has a way of creating a ripple. You do something kind for someone, they carry that feeling with them, and maybe they pass it along to someone else.

We may never know how far one little act can travel.

So my birthday wish is this…

Let’s keep doing little acts of kindness all year long.

It doesn’t have to be something big.

Sometimes the smallest gesture can mean everything to someone who needs it.

One small act.

One person.

A little more love in the world.

Let’s keep the ripple of kindness going....not just today, but all year long.

Don’t let this feeling go. ❤️

My Birthday Kindness Wish continues all weekend long…

Yesterday my heart was so full. Thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes.

This weekend, my birthday wish is simple: do one little act of kindness for someone else.

A small kindness can mean more than we ever know.

Don’t let this feeling go.

MY BIRTHDAY KINDNESS WISH... DAY TWO

Yesterday I shared my birthday wish with you to create a ripple of kindness together.

Today I want to tell you why this means so much to me.

There is a story in my book Resilient Eyes that has stayed in my heart all these years.

When I was a little girl, I would go to the meat counter with Sugar Pops, my dog.

The woman behind the counter would give me extra meat for Sugar Pops.

But I think she knew.

I think somehow she knew that some of that meat wasn't really going to my dog.

It was going home to help feed my family.

She never said anything. She simply gave me extra every time and she never charged me for any of it.

I don't know if she ever realized what that small act of kindness meant to a little girl who didn't have very much.

But I remember her.

I still remember her.

That's the incredible thing about kindness.

Something that takes only a few moments for you....may stay in another person's heart for the rest of their life.

So as my birthday approaches tomorrow, look around you today.

Is there someone you could notice?

Someone who could use a helping hand, a few minutes of your time, a kind word or simply the feeling that somebody sees them?

You may never know how much it means.

Together, we really can create a brighter world.

One person.

One act of kindness.

One beautiful ripple at a time.

Let's see just how much kindness we can create together.

Tell me in the comments: What small act of kindness could you do for someone today?

This Friday is my birthday, and this year there is only one gift I would truly love.

I would love every one of my friends to do one act of kindness for someone who needs it.

When I was a child, we didn’t have much. There were times when complete strangers offered me kindness—small gestures they may never have realized could mean so much to a little girl who was struggling.

But I remember.

I still remember.

Those moments became lights I carried with me. And for my birthday, I would love for us to become that light for someone else.

You don’t need money.

You don’t need special skills.

You only need to noticeand choose to care.

Walk someone’s dog.

Make a homemade dessert for someone who could use a little kindness.

Help an older person across the street.

Check on someone who is lonely.

Carry someone’s groceries.

Sit and listen to someone who needs to be heard.

Or simply notice the person everyone else seems to walk past.

I know we all have busy lives. But sometimes it takes only a few minutes to bring a little light into someone else’s darkness. And sometimes, the smallest kindness becomes a moment someone remembers for the rest of their life.

This is what I call living The Big Life.

Not having more.

Not doing more.

But loving more.

And something wonderful happens when we give kindness away: it lifts the person receiving it, and it softens and brightens our own hearts too. I love it. I get goosebumps just thinking about what we could create together.

So that is my birthday wish.

Let’s see how much light we can create together.

One person.

One act of kindness.

One beautiful ripple at a time.

And then another.

And another.

And another.

Let’s keep going until those ripples become waves, and those waves become a crescendo of kindness—lighting up every life they touch.

That would be the best birthday gift I could ever receive.
