MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!
How would you like to help make a difference this Christmas for a Senior in your community??
For the past 8 - 9 months now, COVID has dampened the mood & darkened many days for our vulnerable seniors and their families.
But now, here is your chance to help bring a smile to their faces this Christmas Season.
Diamond House has partnered with the amazing folks at Warman - Zak's Home Hardware Building Centre. You can stop in at this location, do all your Christmas shopping, and at the same time stop by their “SECRET SANTA TREES”, remove a card or cards from the “Diamond House” or “Warman Mennonite Care Home” Trees, purchase the item (or items) on the wish list card for that resident, and leave the item with their cashier. The great staff at Zak’s will then deliver the items to the Home for our residents.
Note: Zak’s have also included the fine residents at the Warman Mennonite Care Home as well in this generous idea.
Here’s a great idea, why not take a card from each tree, and brighten the Christmas season for a senior in both of these amazing City of Warman-City Hall Care Homes???
Diamond House Families & Friends.
I have another very exciting surprise for all our followers, over the past few days, myself, and our Activities staff have been putting together a little project that we have handed off to The Saskatoon Media Group. This firm runs 3 very prominent radio stations here in saskatoon, namely, 92.9 The Bull - Country 600 CJWW and 98 COOL
The project we have put together are some timely Season Greetings from our residents here at Diamond House. We have approached a good number of our residents and voice recorded their greetings. Unfortunately we could not include everybody, but from those we were able to record, we were able to put together 5 different clips. These clips will start airing on a rotation on all these 3 radio stations starting today (Dec 8, 2020). I have noted the times they are to be airing daily over the next 5 weeks below.
We felt that so many of our seniors have been in the media light with all the covid talk over the past 8 months, and so many of our families have not been able to spend the time they commonly would have been able to, if it were not for this vicious virus. With that, we felt a project like this this would be a good way to bring a smile to the faces of all listeners, and allow them into our home sort of speak during this holiday season and assure the public that our seniors are fairing well here at Dimond House. We hope you enjoy this little surprise, it we be sure to bring a smile to your faces.
• CJWW run at: 09:24:00a - 04:53:00p - 07:12:00p
• 98 Cool fm run at: 08:17:30 am - 03:59:00pm - 07:38:00 pm
• 92.9 The Bull run at: 10:19:00am - 01:36:00pm - 06:36:00pm
Good evening to all Diamond House Families.
With the increase cases of Covid-19 around the province, we once again are asked to re-assess our visiting protocol to help stop the spread and keep our home as safe as possible.
We understand how hard this time is for all our residents, their families and our care team. Living through these unusual and difficult times invites serious reflection on important and existential questions. We are all asking the same core questions:
• How will we get through this?
• How do we provide our residents with the best possible quality of life by limiting access to their loved ones?
So far we have learned (whether we like it or not) that we are completely interconnected and interdependent, and that without solidarity, especially with the most vulnerable among us, we all will lose.
So once again, as the 2nd wave of COVID infections takes hold, we come together and unite with a common goal to keep our residents and their home as safe as possible yet understanding that mental health and physical health is of great importance.
For the next 3 weeks (Nov 18th – Dec 9th) Diamond House will support “Compassionate Visits” for residents that are:
• Having a rapid decline in the physical and mental health
• End of Life
• In need of family members to provide close personal care as this was the practice in place prior to the pandemic
As a care team, we will be monitoring the residents daily and inform families of needed compassionate visits. All families that meet that have loved ones that meet the criteria above, will designate 2 healthy individuals that are able to limit public exposure, wear a mask at all time outside their home and pass the screening assessment. These two designated individuals can visit the resident one at a time in their suite except for end of life when 2 visitors can visit at one time.
NOTE: “End of Life” can be any immediate family members only, providing all COVID screening is completed and accepted & all required PPE is worn while in the home) .
We want all visitors to remember the importance of keeping their mask on at all times while in the home, and limit your exposure to all other residents in the home and our staff as much as possible.
Masks are the biggest defense we have to stop the virus from hurting anyone in the home and we thank you for doing your part to stop this virus from entering Diamond House.
We ask once again that you please circulate this latest announcement to all your family members.
If you have any concerns, please let us know or contact the Ministry of Health Community care Branch at 306-787-7239.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this matter.
Diamond House Management & Staff
Good morning Diamond House families & friends,
I can appreciate that many of your are anxiously waiting for news surrounding the possibility of getting back into the home to visit your loved ones.
During yesterdays Public Health COVID update, presented by Mr. Scott Moe (Premier of Sask) & Dr. Saqib Shahab (Sask Chief Medical Officer), they did not announce an update for visiting protocol in all LTC & PCH in Saskatchewan as they said they would do, however they are now reporting this morning that nothing has changed and visiting in all LTC & PCH in Saskatoon & area, Regina & area and Prince Albert & area are restricted to compassionate and end of live visits only.
I know this is not the news we want to hear, and trust me, this is not what I was hoping to report to all of our families. Golden Health Care has always promoted the “Quality of life”, and we will continue to offer that to our residents (your loved ones) as much as we can while honoring the mandates placed on us by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. I can assure you that everybody is being well cared for, and they are all considered our family as well, so this home continues to be surrounded with love & laughter.
Please be assured, that the moment anything changes, I will be contacting all of you to share any developments with the home and the visiting protocols.

HAPPY 🎃 🕷 HALLOWEEN 🕷🎃
Dear Diamond House Families & Friends,
We regretfully are having to inform all of you, in order to keep everyone in SHA facilities and care homes across Saskatchewan safe during this time, SHA has once again mandated that family presence/visitation is being limited in to compassionate reasons only in all SASKATOON SHA facilities and affiliate. These restrictions will be effective at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 21, 2020.
These restrictions will be reassessed by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday November 3, 2020.
For “ALL” of our residents outside appointments, we will be attempting to accommodate them if they are urgent in matter, if the clinic will still accept appointments during this new announcement. Diamond House will do everything we can to provide a means of safe transportation for your loved ones to these appointments, however effective 8am this morning we will no longer be permitting family members to assist in getting their loved ones to or from their appointments.
Until further notice, family members are welcome to conduct “outside window” visits with their loved ones here at the home. If these visits are occurring, your loved ones window MUST remain closed, and communication must be done using a phone or other means.
Please know that we feel terrible that we are having to inform all of you of this change, but hope that Saskatchewan’s COVID numbers start to show a decline and SHA will revisit this on Nov 3rd and have visiting reinstated in all of our homes.
Below is the official announcement by SHA:

Country hoedown fun!! 👩🌾🧑🌾
We would like to give a HUGE Shout Out to Jade, one of our Care Aids in House 3. Over the past weekend, Jade got married, and on that special day, she took time out to stop by the home here at Diamond House and visit with many of the residents and take some photos with them.
We can not tell you what this meant to our residents and managment that you shared this day with your Diamond House Family!
The photos you see here are only 3 hours before Jade "Tied the Knot"!
CONGRATULATIONS JADE - & Thanks for Sharing yoru special Day with Diamond House Residents and Staff.
Diamond House Families,
We are now starting to experience some difficulty getting the mandatory surgical masks into the home for our staff and visitors.
For that reason, going forward & effective immediately, we would appreciate it if family members could bring their own masks to the home when having an “OUTSIDE” visit with their loved ones.
These masks can be home made or surgical. If you are not able to bring your own masks, the home will then provide you with one.
NOTE: If any physical contact / human touch is done after the OUTSIDE visits – then the “surgical” masks MUST BE WORN.
For any “INSIDE” visits, mask will need to be the surgical masks, no exceptions. These mask will continue to be supplied by the home.
Nothing like some Beach Party fun on on a scorching hot day🔥☀️
Dear Diamond House Families & friends,
Good morning, I hope all are doing well.
It has been a little while since our last update, but I have one for you all today from our CEO (Heather Haupstein) – See Photos
As for your loved ones, all are doing very well, and we are doing our best to keep everybody busy. We have celebrated a few important birthdays over the past couple weeks, had a Hawaiian Party in all of our houses, including grass skirts, dancing, hats, Hawaiian leis, and yes even “Hawaiian Margaritas” (non alcoholic), along with a number of other activities. We even had a bride visit the home before her very special day. Jade, one of our Care Aids from House 3 was married over the weekend, but 3 hours before she “tied the knot”, she took time out of her very special day to come to the home and share her day with so many of our residents. Our seniors loved this, and we would like to once again congratulate Jade on her wedding day. Photos were taken, I will be posting many of them on our page when I can get them.
Over the past several weeks, many families have been taking full advantage of the visiting arrangements set our by our Ministry of Health, and on behalf of our management & staff, I would like to thank all of those families who have been so patient with us and understanding of the process.
Now, rather than me go into allot of what has been happening in our home, city and surrounding community with respects to this virus, and the steps taken to protect our homes, residents and staff, I will let our CEO’s update say it all as her notice does contain a lot in important information.
