Michael R. Peterson Barrister & Solicitor

Michael R. Peterson Barrister & Solicitor Changes to my practice are coming shortly. Please check back soon!

Thank you, everyone, for the good wishes and kind words.

As it turns out, it will be the following Monday, April 09, 2018, before I am able to officially "open the door.".

I am sorry that I jumped the gun, as it were, but, in my enthusiasm, I neglected to accept the practicalities of re-opening the office in the new location. It wasn't for any want of trying, but rather, a lack of appreciation for the realities of moving an office.

So, while the announcement remains in effect, I have to adjust the "opening date" to Monday, April 09, rather than April 02.

However, that being said, I expect the phone, fax, and email lines to be open by April 02, so, while I may not be in the office each day between April 02 and 08, I hope you will feel free to call, fax, or email during those dates. I will have the ability to check them each day, at some point, to ensure that I am able to respond to everyone during that week.

Again, I am sorry for the delay- It was no one's fault. except mine, for jumping the gun.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who might need my assistance. If I can help- I want you to know, that I will.

I am happy to announce the relocation to my new office at:

The Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara Street, in Welland, Upper Level, to the left of the main entrance, just before the Olde Squire Pub & Restaurant.

My office will be open as of April 02, 2018.

I want to take this opportunity thank all of my clients for their patience during this transition since last fall.
I am happy to provide legal assistance to anyone who has been charged with any kind of offence or infraction, regardless if it is a Criminal Code matter, a drug matter, a Highway Traffic Act matter, or, any other federal or provincial offence.

In addition, I am happy to meet with clients who may need a Separation Agreement negotiated, or, who may have a Small Claims Court action.

I am also representing people who may have a claim at the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, or, who feel they have a dispute with the Ministry of Transportation about their medical, or other driver's licence suspension.

Even if your legal matter involves an area of law in which I do not personally represent clients, I can direct you to colleagues who do practice in those areas. So, while I do take on clients who have disputes with the government generally, I am also willing to meet to discuss your particular issue, and together we will decide if I am the right lawyer for you- and if not, I am confident that I can assist you in finding someone who will.

I keep my practice focused- so that I remain focused on you.

My profession is the law.
My passion is advocacy.
My focus is you.

Hello, everyone. My obligations are now fulfilled, and, so, effective October 02, 2017, I will begin accepting new clients.
To those who have been waiting for me to open my practice again- thank you for your patience. I know that you have appreciated the time I devoted to the client during the last 3 months.
To those who may be new to my practice- thank you for your patience. I promise that it will not be for naught.
Please contact me at 905-714-1616 if you wish to talk about your legal issue. I am here to help.

Starting July 04, 2016, my office will be accepting new clients again.

My office is dedicated to providing the highest quality of legal service and expertise in the following areas:

Criminal law - whether you are charged with an offence under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; whether a youth, or an adult- I am here to help. That is what I've done for 12 years.

Highway Traffic Act - if you're charged with a serious Highway Traffic Act offence, it's not the same as a speeding ticket. You're going to want help, and that's what I do. I help.

Appeals - no matter if you're appealing a conviction under the Highway Traffic Act, or a criminal offence; no matter if your appeal is heard in the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, or the Ontario Court of Appeal - I've been there. And I know how to help you.

Pardons & Waivers - Seeking a Pardon (now called a, "Record Suspension")? Have a criminal record, but, need to travel to the USA? I will do everything that can be done to help you get past the past.

Separation Agreements - Don't want to go to family court? Do you just want to try to settle things, amicably, without a long time of fighting with lawyers and a judge? I will work with you and your spouse to achieve a settlement that could avoid all of that.

Personal Advocacy - If you have a problem that doesn't fit neatly into a category of law; you're not suing someone, you're not saying you were unfairly fired, it's not about being denied Worker's Compensation - it's something else. A battle over the school board and bullying? You're being called in to a court about a municipal infraction? Then make an appointment with me. Let's see if I can help you. I'm willing to help if I can. That, I promise you.
