Rhomboids – The Posture Helpers

Have you spent too long at a desk?

The rhomboid muscles sit between your shoulder blades and help keep your shoulders comfortably positioned.

Long hours of sitting can leave them working harder than they need to.

Sometimes a gentle reset is all your body needs.

Quadratus Lumborum – Supporting Your Lower Back

This deep muscle runs between your pelvis and your ribs.

It helps you stand upright, bend sideways and stabilise your lower back during movement.

When one side works harder than the other, your movement may feel uneven.

The EMMETT Technique aims to encourage better balance throughout the body. It is also a really good muscle to relax at the beginning of a therapy session. You can see the whole body relax onto the couch with less tension in the whole body.

There’s something powerful about realising you don’t need to “fight” tissue to create change.

The nervous system responds to safety, precision and communication.

That’s why many therapists are moving towards gentler approaches like The Emmett Technique.

Latissimus Dorsi – The Powerful Back Muscle

Known simply as the “lats,” these broad muscles run from the lower back to the upper arm.

They are involved in reaching, pulling, swimming, rowing and many everyday activities. They also contribute to shoulder mobility and posture.

When the lats are working well, the shoulders often feel freer and movement through the upper body becomes more relaxed.
