🧠 YOUR CHILD IS NOT LAZY OR STUPID! THEY MAY HAVE DYSLEXIA. 📚❤️

Imagine trying your best to read a simple sentence, but the letters keep getting confusing. Now imagine people calling you lazy because of it. That’s the reality some children face every day.

🩺 HEALTH UPDATE: WHAT IS DYSLEXIA?

Dyslexia is a learning difference that mainly affects reading, spelling, and the ability to connect letters with their corresponding sounds. It is not caused by low intelligence, and children with dyslexia can be just as intelligent as their peers.

🔍 Common signs to look out for:
🔹 Difficulty learning letters and their sounds.
🔹 Slow or inaccurate reading.
🔹 Frequent spelling mistakes.
🔹 Difficulty sounding out unfamiliar words.
🔹 Struggling to read despite regular practice.

💡 Can it be managed?

Yes! Early identification, specialized reading instruction, patience, and support from parents and teachers can help children develop stronger reading skills and thrive academically.

❤️ Remember: A child with dyslexia doesn't need ridicule or punishment. They need understanding, the right support, and an opportunity to reach their full potential.

🚨 A NURSE IS NOT A HOUSE HELP! 🩺🇨🇲

A nurse is a trained healthcare professional, not a domestic worker. Nurses monitor patients, administer medications, respond to emergencies, and save lives.

Yet, some people advertise “nursing jobs” that involve cooking, washing, cleaning, and other household duties for little or no pay.

LET’S CALL IT WHAT IT IS: EXPLOITATION, NOT NURSING!

Nurses deserve fair pay, safe working conditions, dignity, and respect.

📢 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Stop disguising domestic work as nursing employment. If you are hiring a nurse, respect their profession. If you see such exploitative job offers, speak out against them.

👉 SHARE this post, TAG a nurse, and let your voice be heard! Together, let’s end the exploitation and restore dignity to nursing in Cameroon.

NURSES ARE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, NOT CHEAP LABOUR! ❤️🩺

🏥 IF YOU USE A GOVERNMENT OR PUBLIC HOSPITAL, MAKE UNA HEAR THIS! 🩺🇨🇲

Before blaming a doctor or nurse, understand these things:

1️⃣ Payment for procedures: It may be hospital policy or a lack of resources, not the healthcare worker's personal decision.

2️⃣ Waiting in Emergency: Patients are treated according to the severity of their condition, not simply who arrived first. This is called TRIAGE.

3️⃣ Lack of electricity, oxygen, drugs or equipment: Sometimes, these are system failures beyond the healthcare worker's control.

4️⃣ Long waiting times: Staff shortages and overwhelming workloads can delay care, even when healthcare workers are doing their best.

5️⃣ Repeated checks and procedures: Nurses and doctors monitor you to detect changes and prevent avoidable complications.

6️⃣ Buying drugs or supplies: This may be due to hospital shortages. Ask questions and direct your complaints to the appropriate authorities.

7️⃣ Healthcare workers get tired too: They care for human beings, often under difficult conditions, with limited staff and resources.

8️⃣ Hospital admission is not a personal jackpot: A healthcare worker's basic salary generally remains the same whether you are admitted or not. Their job is to care for you, not to keep you sick for money.

⚠️ BUT LET'S BE FAIR!

Negligence, misconduct and disrespect should never be excused. Patients deserve quality care, explanations and respect. Healthcare workers also deserve adequate resources, safe working conditions and respect.

A doctor cannot perform miracles without resources, and a nurse cannot safely care for unlimited patients at once.

Stop blaming individual healthcare workers for every failure of the health system. Ask questions, demand accountability and direct complaints to the right people.

Patients deserve better healthcare. Healthcare workers deserve better working conditions. BOTH CAN BE TRUE!

📢 MAKE UNA HEAR!

🚨🩸 NOSEBLEED? DON'T TILT YOUR HEAD BACK! 😳

Have you ever seen someone with a bleeding nose tilt their head backward to stop the blood? ⚠️ That common practice can actually cause blood to flow down the throat!

🩺 HEALTH UPDATE: FIRST AID FOR NOSEBLEEDS

A nosebleed (epistaxis) can happen because of dry air, nose picking, minor injury, or other medical conditions. Knowing the correct first aid can help you manage it safely.

✅ WHAT TO DO WHEN SOMEONE HAS A NOSEBLEED

1️⃣ Stay calm and sit upright. Keep the person sitting, not lying flat.

2️⃣ Lean the head slightly FORWARD. This helps prevent blood from running down the throat.

3️⃣ Pinch the soft part of the nose. Use your thumb and index finger to firmly squeeze both nostrils just below the bony bridge.

4️⃣ Hold continuously for 10–15 minutes. Breathe through the mouth. Do not release the pressure repeatedly to check whether the bleeding has stopped.

5️⃣ Spit out blood that enters the mouth. Avoid swallowing it.

❌ WHAT NOT TO DO
🚫 Don't tilt the head backward.
🚫 Don't lie flat.
🚫 Don't keep releasing the nose to check the bleeding.
🚫 Don't stuff tissue or cotton deeply into the nostrils.

🚑 WHEN SHOULD YOU SEEK URGENT MEDICAL HELP?

🔴 The bleeding is heavy.
🔴 It follows a serious head or facial injury.
🔴 The person feels faint, weak, or has difficulty breathing.
🔴 The bleeding continues after 15–20 minutes of firm, continuous pressure.
🔴 The person takes blood-thinning medication or has a bleeding disorder.

❤️ REMEMBER: Sit upright, lean forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose. These three actions can make a big difference!

🚨 EPILEPSY IS NOT CONTAGIOUS! 🧠❌🦠
Yes, you read that correctly. You cannot “catch” epilepsy from someone having a seizure.
Yet when someone suddenly falls and starts shaking, many people panic, run away, or even try dangerous things.
🆘 WHAT SHOULD YOU DO DURING A SEIZURE?
✅ Stay calm and stay with the person.
✅ Move dangerous objects away.
✅ Place something soft under their head.
✅ Loosen tight clothing around the neck.
✅ Time the seizure.
✅ When the shaking stops, place them on their side and monitor their breathing.
❌ NEVER DO THIS:
🚫 Don't restrain them.
🚫 Don't put a spoon, cloth, fingers, or any object in their mouth.
🚫 Don't give them food, water, or medication while they're unconscious.
🚫 Don't try to force their mouth open.
🚑 GET EMERGENCY HELP IF:
🔴 The seizure lasts 5 minutes or longer
🔴 Another seizure starts before they recover
🔴 They have difficulty breathing or don't regain consciousness
🔴 They are seriously injured
🔴 It is their first known seizure
❤️ A seizure can be frightening, but your calm response can prevent further injury.
📢 Share this post. You might be the person who knows what to do when everyone else is panicking.

🚨 DID YOU KNOW?

You cannot catch asthma from another person! 🫁

Asthma is NOT contagious. You can't get it by touching someone with asthma, sitting beside them, sharing food, or breathing the same air.

Asthma causes the airways to become inflamed and narrowed, leading to wheezing, coughing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing.

⚠️ COMMON TRIGGERS TO AVOID:
🚬 Smoke
🧹 Dust
🧴 Strong perfumes/chemicals
🏭 Air pollution
❄️ Cold air
🤒 Respiratory infections
😰 Stress
🏃 Exercise in some people

💊 TREATMENT: Asthma can be controlled with prescribed inhalers and other medications. Some provide quick relief during symptoms, while others help prevent attacks.

🚨 ASTHMA ATTACK? KNOW WHEN IT'S AN EMERGENCY!

GET EMERGENCY MEDICAL HELP IMMEDIATELY if:
🔴 The person is struggling severely to breathe
🔴 They cannot speak in full sentences because of breathlessness
🔴 Their lips or face become blue/grey
🔴 They become confused, very drowsy, or collapse
🔴 The reliever inhaler is not helping or symptoms are rapidly worsening

While waiting for help, keep the person sitting upright and help them use their prescribed reliever inhaler according to their asthma action plan.

❤️ Remember: Asthma isn't contagious, but a severe asthma attack can be life-threatening.

Know your triggers. Take your treatment. Know when to seek help. 🫁
