That is how long it takes to develop a new habit. In the beginning, you will need to be more mindful of your new habit that you are either trying to instill or kick to the curb. As you begin to incorporate it into your day, it will eventually simply become a part of what you do - a part of who you are.
As much as we would like perfection, that is not a reasonable expectation when starting something new.
The real key here is to be sure you do not miss more than two days in a row.
After 2 months, you are off to the races with your new, healthy habit!
