**The underrated blood sugar helper**
The most exciting cinnamon discovery of recent years: cinnamon can improve insulin sensitivity and gently flatten the blood sugar spike after a meal. The star is a polyphenol called MHCP (methylhydroxychalcone polymer), which mimics insulin and helps glucose enter the cells. Several studies show modestly improved fasting blood sugar levels with 1–3 g of cinnamon daily. Particularly interesting for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes — as a complement to exercise and diet, not a replacement for medical therapy!
☕ Recipe: Oriental-style cinnamon coffee
Add ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon powder directly to the coffee grounds in the filter before brewing. Makes a spicy, aromatic cup that can soften the post-breakfast blood sugar spike. For sweetness: try a little honey instead of sugar.
⚠️ Important: If you take diabetes medication, discuss regular cinnamon use with your doctor — potentiation can lead to hypoglycemia.
