A little inspiration away from work… that still brought me right back to what I love most. 🤍

Today I visited the Thyssen Museum in Madrid and completely fell in love with these beautiful works by Spanish artist Carmen Laffón.

As I wandered through the galleries, I smiled because, even on my day off, I seem to find babies everywhere! 🥰 Whether I’m working with newborns or simply admiring art, babies have a way of capturing my heart.

Laffón’s paintings feel so peaceful and full of tenderness. The soft light, delicate fabrics and quiet stillness perfectly capture those precious early days of life. They reminded me that there is so much beauty in slowing down and simply being present with a baby.

One of the things I love most about being a maternity carer is that my appreciation for newborns doesn’t stop when I finish work. I genuinely enjoy celebrating babies, motherhood and the incredible journey of growing a family—wherever I am.

Art has a wonderful way of reminding us that the love, wonder and gentleness of new life is timeless. 🤍

Maternal Mental Health Week 🤍

So many new parents — especially expat families — are carrying far more than nappies, feeds and sleepless nights. They’re carrying guilt, isolation, overwhelm… and often shame for not “loving every moment.”

But shame grows in silence.
And parenthood was never meant to be done without a village.

At Coz Maternity Services, I gently remind parents that difficult thoughts and feelings do not define you. It’s okay to sit with hard emotions without judging yourself for them. And it’s important to notice the quiet inner narratives that can creep in during early parenthood — “I’m failing,” “I should be coping better,” “Everyone else seems happier than me.”

You are not failing.
You are adjusting to one of life’s biggest transitions.

You do not need to earn support by reaching breaking point.
You are allowed to need rest.
You are allowed to miss home.
You are allowed to find motherhood harder than expected.

Especially when your family, friends and familiar comforts are oceans away.

This Maternal Mental Health Week, let this be your reminder that asking for support is not weakness — it is wisdom.

Motherhood is rewarding but emotionally demanding.

Many mothers feel overwhelmed, carry guilt, and rarely have the space to process their own experience. This group provides a structured, trauma-informed space to understand your emotions, manage overload, strengthen boundaries, and support attuned parenting.
