Meet non-striving ✨

One of the mindfulness attitudes and probably one of the hardest for high-achievers

It doesn’t mean
- giving up on goals
- Being lazy
- Not caring
- Sitting around waiting for things to happen

It means being aware of the “more, more, more!” Are you trying to be more successful? More productive? More organised? More calm?

Has mindfulness become another thing to “get right”?!
Am I meditating properly?
Why can’t I clear my mind?
Am I calm enough?
Am I doing as well as the person next to me?
Why am I STILL thinking about my to-do list?!

What if in this exact moment, there’s no where else you need to get to? What if you could accept that you don’t need to fix yourself? What if you could simply notice what’s already here? Right in front of you…within you…

You can have goals, you can work hard and you can want things to change

Maybe it’s time to step off the hamster wheel. That’s exactly what I help women do. DM me CALM to find out more about 1:1 mindfulness 🧘‍♀️

Is your brain permanently open in 28 different tabs?!

You get things done. You show up for everyone. You keep work, family, life and approximately 7,000 other things moving.

But you are knackered.

You absolutely cannot switch off.

You are constantly thinking about what needs doing next.

Even when you are relaxing, your brain is still whirring away.

And you know you probably need to slow down, take some time out… but honestly, who has time for that?!

This is exactly why I created The Mind Department. Because I was that person!

I work 1-to-1 with busy, women who are tired of feeling like they are constantly holding everything together. I use practical mindfulness tools to help you feel calmer, more present and more in control of your own head.

No sitting cross-legged on a mountain. No incense. No “just be grateful”

It’s practical, realistic tools that fit into actual life.

I am currently taking on a couple of new 1-to-1 clients, and I offer a completely free 30-minute chat so we can talk about what’s going on for you and whether working together could help.

If you’ve read this thinking “oh s**t, she’s talking about me”… send me a message 🤍

🤔

My husband said “I live with a mindfulness teacher and I have no idea what mindfulness is”

Doh! I’ve failed!

I even taught him some of the 8 week course so this wasn’t what I wanted to hear!

But then I thought about it. I thought mindfulness was a load of mumbo jumbo hippy s**t until I started practicing. Then I stopped caring about the definitions and explanations because it just works.

That’s fine for me but if you’re scrolling through this, you probably want to know what mindfulness is and how it’s going to fix you.

Well first of all, it won’t fix you.

Secondly, there’s the definition we all fall back on Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally as if your life depends on it.

Then there’s the way I explain it…

✨that you’re able to just have one tab open in your mind.
✨you’re able to enjoy a moment without adding a “but” or thinking about your to-do list.
✨ you don’t feel guilty if you sit down for five minutes to do nothing.
✨ you’re curious about what’s going on in your body but you’re not catastrophying it.
✨ you don’t need to take a photo of everything and upload it onto socials to feel good.

I could go on.

The proof is in the pudding!

So why not book a free 30 minute call with me?

Let’s talk.

Disclaimer: I’m not here to give you permission to take care of yourself. You need to do that for you. But just in case you’ve forgotten, you are allowed to! 🤍

Don’t overthink it.

Just breath.

Just be.

☀️ The sunrise caught my attention today ☀️

The light felt different, it was catching the Cheviots quite magically. It feels like we are moving into new season.

With the start of a new school term, the beginning of Q4 on the horizon, pressure to achieve all those goals in the next 16 weeks, it can be very easy to rush through these transitions.

Can you allow yourself to take a moment to pause?

To notice the changing light, the cooler mornings and the beauty of nature shifting.

It’s not just the light I’ve noticed, the plants are gradually changing. I am feeling the urge to get cosy 🍂

Have you notice anything changing recently? Let me know 👇🏼

Let Go 🌿

One of the core attitudes of mindfulness. Not “give up.” Not “stop caring.” Letting go means releasing your grip on how things should be, so you can actually be with how they are.

We hold onto thoughts, outcomes, and feelings because it feels like control. If I keep thinking about it, keep replaying it, surely that helps? Often, it just keeps us stuck.

In real life, letting go might look like:
🍃 not needing the last word in an argument
🍃 putting down a to-do list at 6pm unfinished
🍃 noticing a difficult thought without following it down the rabbit hole
🍃 accepting a day didn’t go to plan without spiralling about it after.

It’s not a one-time decision, it’s a muscle. Every time you notice yourself gripping and consciously soften, you are practising it. It gets easier with repetition, not willpower.

This month, we are exploring Let Go together in my weekly mindful movement and meditation class in Chatton, the membership’s community chat and weekly meditations. It’s also an attitude which we come back to a lot in 1-2-1 work if you want something more personal.

Where in your life could you do with letting go a little this month? 👇

🎂 IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! 🎂

And because I’m very much of the opinion that birthdays are better when you share the good stuff… I’ve decided to give YOU a little present 🎁

I’m giving one person a FREE MONTH of The Mind Department Membership 🤍

A whole month of little moments to pause, breathe, move, reflect and make a bit more space for yourself amongst all the other stuff life throws at you.

To enter, all you need to do is:

✨ Like this post
✨ Follow The Mind Department
✨ Comment below with ONE thing you’re grateful for today

That’s it.

And if you know someone who could really do with a little more breathing space at the moment, feel free to share this with them too 🤍

I’ll pick one winner at random on the 31st August 2026 at 10:00 UK.

PS I hated art at school, I was told by multiple teachers that I wasn’t any good. Recently I’ve decided that I don’t give a hoot, I actually quite like being creative and does it really matter how it turns out?!

Now… tell me your gratitude👇🏼

What’s one thing you’re grateful for today? I’ll go first 👇🏼
