Yesterday’s run was a tough one… not because of the run, but because I had to dig deep mentally.
I’d had a hard week. Something came up at work that really triggered me as a parent. But this time, I was on the inside and witnessed first-hand just how broken the system is.
I’m so lucky that I have a job that enables me to support so many children, but my heart broke just a little more on Friday. I didn’t realise how much it had affected me until I got home.
We are such a long way from any kind of fixing it too. It’s an institution that feels blind to what it is doing to our children, and that’s incredibly hard to witness from the inside.
So yeah… my head and my heart were heavy as I ran.
And then Run Boy Run came on. That song was the soundtrack to my marathon, and it’s the tune I always associate with running . So I turned it up, dug a little deeper and kept going. 🏃♀️❤️
But I saw so many beautiful things along the way.
The swans and their babies, who I’ve watched grow. Seeing them just glide down the canal is pure beauty. The rain and the sun both came out, which I was overjoyed with.
Then I got to finish my day with a session in the cryo tank… freezing my t**s off for 3 minutes, thank you very much! 🤣🤣
And off again today, in the hope that all the aches will disappear. 🤣
