Yesterday, Rhodri and Hywel had the pleasure of visiting the British Embassy in Paris to showcase our Official Tour de France (TDF) balance bikes — and what a fantastic opportunity it was to see young children at the Embassy enjoying the experience of riding our products.
We also had the privilege of discussing with Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport in the Welsh Government Heledd Fychan the journey of Cycle Champs in supplying balance bikes to the Tour de France, and, more importantly, the bigger vision we share for the legacy of this incredible event.
Cycle Champs believe this is a once in a generation opportunity to change the trajectory of health and wellbeing in our communities.
The Tour de France coming to Wales and the wider UK represents so much more than a world-class sporting event. It is a platform to inspire, motivate and educate the next generation, helping children discover the lifelong skills, confidence and enjoyment that cycling can bring.
Imagine a legacy where more children have access to balance and pedal bikes, more schools have the resources to introduce cycling, and more young people grow up understanding the benefits of an active lifestyle. A legacy that helps create healthier, happier and more connected communities across Wales and the UK.
But this ambition cannot be achieved by government, National Governing Bodies or the private sector working in isolation.
Real, lasting change happens through collaboration. It requires shared ambition, collective commitment and a genuine desire to turn this moment of inspiration into meaningful, long-term impact.
If we can bring together the right partners, resources and ideas, we have a genuine opportunity to create a legacy that extends far beyond the finish line — one that benefits generations to come.
We would love to hear from like-minded partners in both private and public sectors who share this vision and want to play their part in making it happen. Together, we can help enable schools and communities with the resources they need to inspire children, get more young people on bikes and build a healthier future for our communities.
The race may have a finish line, but the legacy should last a lifetime. 🚴♂️
