🩸 September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

At Southcotts Pharmacy, we’re using this month to help raise awareness, encourage conversations and stand alongside individuals and families living with sickle cell disease. ❤️

Sickle cell is more than a diagnosis. For many people, it can mean living with unpredictable episodes of severe pain, fatigue and other health complications that aren’t always visible to those around them.

Awareness leads to understanding, compassion and better support.

And we mustn’t forget the importance of blood donation. 🩸 Blood transfusions can be an essential part of treatment for some people living with sickle cell disease.

This September, learn a little more, talk a little more and help us spread awareness. ❤️

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere including at home. In the UK, less than 1 in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest outside hospital. But there’s good news: if someone nearby starts CPR quickly, their chances of survival can more than double or even quadruple compared with waiting for help to arrive.

Around 80 % of these emergencies happen in the home which means the people most likely to be there are you. Yet many adults aren’t confident performing CPR, and not all cardiac arrests receive bystander support.
