Female ADHD Network Hi, I'm Clare — I help women make sense of ADHD in midlife. Certified ADHD life coach, diagnosed myself at 52. I found out in mid-life age 51.

Take the free 5-minute Midlife ADHD Profile Discovery Quiz: https://mapquiz.femaleadhdnetwork.com/ 🟣 Did you know that ADHD really does look different in women? It tends to me more noticeable in boys, who may be hyperactive whilst girls are likely to be more inattentive - and labelled in school as day-dreamers, ditzy or chatterboxes.
🟣 Therefore, it is for this reason, many women are less likely to be diagnosed and grow up feeling misunderstood. Adult women with ADHD typically present with tremendous time management challenges, chronic disorganisation, longstanding feelings of stress and being overwhelmed, difficulties with money management, children or siblings with ADHD, and a history of anxiety and depression.
🟣 Many may not realise they have ADHD themselves until middle age or later....including myself! I suspected at the time of my Sons diagnosis, but it was confirmed as a result of experiencing terrible anxiety, leading to burn out. Over this time, I carried out research and put strategies and workarounds in place, which still work for me to help in my day to day life, and also to work towards my goals. I started this group because I couldn’t find an ADHD group for women which provided structure to understand more about ADHD in women but with a strength based approach.
🟣 Our full focus is on your personal growth, well-being and success - this is YOUR journey of self-discovery and transformation, and we are with you on it every step of the way! Whether you are diagnosed or suspect you have ADHD, if you are in a similar position and keen to understand more about how to navigate the challenges so that you can focus on achieving your potential and supporting others to do the same - then this group is for you!
🟣 This is your safe non-judgemental place to share your experiences, ask for help, and offer support where you can

Why does managing time feel so difficult with ADHD? ⏰

It's not just about being late or losing track of time.

Planning, prioritising, remembering what needs doing, getting started and switching between tasks all play a part.

And when you add the demands of midlife, it can sometimes feel even harder to keep everything going.

But here's something I've learned: **different challenges need different approaches.**

The first step is understanding what's actually difficult for you, rather than trying another complete overhaul.

🧡 If you'd like to explore how ADHD is showing up in your own life right now, try my free Midlife ADHD Profile Discovery Quiz.

You'll receive a personalised profile report to help you reflect on your challenges and explore practical next steps.

A little Sunday reminder. 🧡

If every day feels like a race against the clock, perhaps the answer isn't always to squeeze more in.

Maybe it's to leave a little more room.

Between appointments.

Between tasks.

Between what you've promised everyone else and what you need yourself.

I know that's easier said than done. I'm still working on it too. 😂

**What's one thing you'd like a little more time for this week?**

31/10/2026

I haven't done any gardening for over a month.

So naturally, ten minutes before I needed to get ready seemed like the PERFECT time to start. 😂🌱

I'll just pull out a few weeds, I thought.

Maybe tidy that flower bed.

Oh, and while I'm here…

**THREE HOURS LATER.** 😱

I'm still in the garden, covered in soil, wondering how on earth I've only got ten minutes left to get ready.

Welcome to my ADHD relationship with time. 😂

**What's your biggest time trap?**

A — “I'll just do one more thing”
B — Completely losing track of time
C — Thinking everything will only take five minutes
D — All of the above! 😂

Saturday. Cup of tea. No pressure. ☕

But here's a gentle little experiment you could try to help with time management.

Set a timer for whatever you're about to do next. Not to rush yourself, just to check in.

When it goes off, ask: **Am I still doing what I meant to be doing?**

If yes, lovely. If not, notice where your attention wandered, without giving yourself a telling-off.

It's a simple way to notice when time has slipped away, especially when your ADHD brain takes you down an unexpected rabbit hole. 😂

Mine's a Yorkshire Tea, obviously.

**What's in your mug (or glass) today?** ☕

30/10/2026

“I'll only be ten minutes.”

Famous last words! 😂

I've always struggled with managing my time. Running late, underestimating how long things will take, getting distracted or trying to squeeze far too much into one day.

Sound familiar?

What I've learned is that ADHD can affect much more than our sense of time. And when you add the demands of midlife, it can become even harder.

In this week's blog, I'm looking at **five common ADHD time management challenges**, why they happen and practical strategies that might help.

Because sometimes understanding *why* something is difficult is the first step towards making it easier.

And tell me, what's your biggest time-management challenge?

**Does anyone else's ADHD brain suddenly remember EVERYTHING they've been putting off… the minute they sit down to relax?** 😂

Me: Ahhh, Sunday afternoon. Time to do absolutely nothing.

My brain, five minutes later: PERFECT! Let's tackle that entire to-do list we've been avoiding all week! 🐕💨

Why is it that we can spend all week struggling to get started, only to suddenly find the motivation when we're supposed to be relaxing?!

With ADHD, procrastination isn't always about laziness or willpower. Getting started, prioritising and managing our attention can be genuinely difficult.

And in midlife, with everything else we're juggling, it can feel even harder.

🧡 **If you've been wondering why everyday life feels harder than it used to, I've created something that might help.**

My free **Midlife ADHD Profile Quiz** helps you explore how ADHD is showing up for you right now, recognise where you might be getting stuck and discover what could make everyday life a little easier.

You'll receive a personalised report with insights and practical suggestions.

And tell me… does your brain do the cat-to-dog transformation too? 😂

Do you ever wonder why things that used to feel manageable suddenly feel so much harder?

Maybe you're struggling to get started, keep on top of everyday things, or find the energy for everything you're juggling.

Perhaps you've tried new routines, planners and productivity tricks, but nothing seems to stick.

And you're left wondering:

“Why can't I manage things the way I used to?”

For women with ADHD, midlife can bring another layer of challenges. Changes in responsibilities, energy, sleep and hormones can all affect how manageable everyday life feels.

But before you try another system or tell yourself to try harder, it might help to understand what's actually getting in your way.

That's why I created the free Midlife ADHD Profile Quiz.

It's designed to help you make sense of your ADHD experience right now, recognise where you might be getting stuck, and explore what could make everyday life feel easier.

You'll discover your profile — Juggler, Experimenter or Author — and receive a personalised report with insights and practical suggestions.

🧡 If you're ready to understand your midlife ADHD a little better, this is a place to start.

Tell me you have ADHD without telling me you have ADHD… 😂

Me: I really need to sit down and sort out my finances.

Also me: You know what desperately needs doing RIGHT NOW?

Alphabetising my herbs and spices. 🌿

Yes, I actually did this. And very nice they looked too, thank you very much! 🤣

Apparently, organising the spice rack was FAR more appealing than opening my budget spreadsheet.

The funny thing is, once I actually get started on the finances, they’re usually nowhere near as bad as I’ve imagined.

Ahhh, the joys of productive procrastination!

So, which procrastination style sounds most like you?

🅰️ Surprisingly productive — doing everything except THE task!

🅱️ Freeze, scroll or disappear down a rabbit hole.

🅲 A bit of both (or something else entirely!).

👇 Tell me your A, B or C in the comments. Bonus points for sharing the most ridiculous thing you’ve done to avoid a task! 😂

Ever spent longer avoiding a task than it would actually take to do it? 🙋‍♀️

You know it needs doing. You might even want to get it done.

But somehow, getting started feels like the hardest part.

With ADHD, procrastination isn't always about motivation or willpower. And in midlife, stress, poor sleep, changing energy and everything else we're juggling can make things even harder.

The useful question isn't always *“How do I make myself do it?”*

Sometimes it's **“What's actually getting in my way?”**

👉 Swipe through for four things worth knowing about ADHD and procrastination, plus one small experiment you can try this week.

And if you'd like to explore it further, I've written about it in this week's blog.
