Buying a cake for someone else's big birthday? Start here.

If you've never ordered a bespoke cake before, you're not expected to know the rules.

Nobody's born knowing what to ask for, you don't need a picture or a finished idea to get the process underway.

Start the process off by telling me about the person - What they love, what they’re like, a story or a quirk that's just theirs.

A 30th, 40th or 50th is exactly the sort of occasion bespoke cake designs were made for.

From this information I can put together three design options to suit different budgets and levels of detail, so you can see what's realistic.

Finally you'll receive a sketch before anything's baked, a visual of the cake designed exclusively for you.

A single tier cake start from £130 and a box of 12 cupcakes around £50, depending on design and detail.

Message me whenever you're ready. Tell me about them, and I'll take it from there.

Trick or treat? Treat, obviously.

Tonight's for pumpkins. Tomorrow it's November, and in this kitchen that means Christmas is officially allowed.

Something handmade is coming for the people on your thank-you list.

Comment BOX for first look.

"A complete work of art."

That's from a message that came in after one of my cakes went out, and it's honestly the best part of this job.

They also said the attention to detail was second to none, and that even the butterflies were all edible. Fine, delicate, pretty.

I'd always rather make an element by hand from sugar than buy one in that’s no edible, so that line meant a lot.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to send kind words. They're the reason I keep fussing over the tiny details.

Know someone planning a celebration? Feel free to send them my way.

Nobody should be handed the sad, separate slice or worse still excluded when it comes to cake during a celebration.

Whilst everyone else gets to enjoy a slice of the cake that was the centrepiece of the party, one guest gets something small and bought in on the side (as an after thought).

It's not a big drama, just a quiet feeling of being the odd one out.

I can also provide bakes made using vegan, gluten free or dairy free ingredients, most of the time that means a providing a smaller cake or a few cupcakes alongside the main feature, ensuring there's something made with the same care for them too.

If someone in your group has a dietary need, mention it when you message me. It's much easier to plan properly from the start.

My kitchen isn't a tested allergen compliant facility, due to the handing of all the key allergens - but proud to still offer the option if it suits your needs and I'll always explain exactly what that means before you decide anything.

Ready to start the conversation, head on over to the order form (link in bio) and together we can ensure everyone’s included at your next event.

Teachers, I understand, could open a small shop with the amount of mugs they're given during December.

Nothing wrong with a mug, but if you'd like your end-of-term thank you to be one they can actually eat, rather than something that takes up yet more cupboard space, I've got something coming that will tick all boxes.

All ready to collect before the term ends. Comment BOX if you'd like first look at what’s coming.

Who deserves a proper thank you this year?

I don't mean a quick card in the book bag (although those count too). I mean the person who's quietly kept your year on track.

The teacher who noticed when your little one was having a wobble, the carer who turns up whatever the weather. The neighbour who takes your parcels in and never complains.

I've been working on something for exactly those people.

Handmade, hand-painted, and ready for those festive thank you’s.

Proper details soon. For now, tell me who's on your list below ⬇️. And if you'd like first look before it goes live, comment BOX or send me a message.

Picture a teddy bear cake.

To most people it's a cute bear, perfect for any child's party. To the person it's been made for, it might be the companion with whom they’ve every secret - child or adult there’s undoubtedly one childhood toy that sparks a memory.

That's the bit I care about most. Not just a favourite colour or a nod to a hobby, but the real details of a life lived that nobody else sees.

Years ago I made a cake of my brother's childhood toy, George, a stuffed dog hand puppet with his mouth wide open. The lower jaw was a rice krispy treat covered in sugarpaste, propped on a flimsy cake card.

Moisture and thin card, it turns out, do not get along. It went floppy! A bit of rearranging and a spare piece from the board later, it held up and looked like it was meant to be there.

My brother isn't one for gushing. He took one look and said "wow, it's George." I'll take that over any compliment going.

It's why every cake that leaves here carries something only the person it's for will really recognise.

Has a toy ever stuck with you for life?

Wondering why you get three designs to choose from before anything's baked?

Most of the time, when you enquire about a celebration cake, you'll be offered three options to choose between, each at a different budget and level of detail.

All designed to help turn what’s possibly started life as a vague idea into a coherent plan -

One slightly pared back, one more detailed, and one proper showstopper if that's what the occasion calls for.

After that, you'll get a sketch before any baking starts. It's the kind of step usually only offered for wedding cakes, but there's no reason a birthday or anniversary cake should miss out on knowing what you're getting before it's made.

The visual, helps the design process flow - from idea to completed cake … It just means fewer surprises, and a better chance of the finished cake actually matching what was in your head to begin with.

Questions about how the processs works? Ask away.

Credit for cake photos goes to the recipient of this cake (thanks Bev), without whom no evidence would exist, following a minor meltdown with technology and a failed album backup…
