Mobility doesn’t need to mean spending 45 minutes doing every stretch you’ve ever saved on Instagram 😂

If there’s a movement you’re struggling with, start by looking at the range you currently have and what you actually need for the things you want to do.

Then work on it consistently.

Your mobility won’t necessarily look like somebody else’s and that’s completely fine. The goal isn’t to become as bendy as possible. It’s to have enough comfortable, controlled movement for your body and your activities.

And if you’re hypermobile, the conversation is slightly different. More range isn’t necessarily what we want, so stability and control may need to be the priority instead.

Save this and remember: you don’t need more random stretches. You need the right movement, done consistently 💙

If you’re new here (or you’ve been quietly following for six months 👀) hello!

I’m Lucie, a Sports Rehabilitator, lecturer and rider performance specialist.

I’ve worked in Sports Rehabilitation since 2014, have been lecturing since 2021 and also work with England pathway rugby players, so whether I’m working with an athlete trying to return to sport or a rider trying to understand why they’re wonky in the saddle, my approach is pretty similar.

I want to understand the *whole* picture, work out what’s actually going on and give you a plan that makes sense for you.

💪 Sports Rehab: book directly through the link in my bio. Spaces can fill quickly, so get yourself booked in if you need me.

🐎 Rider Performance & EQ Bands: drop me a message and we’ll have a chat about the best option for you.

See you in clinic (or at the yard!) 👋

I’ve officially started lecturing full time 👩‍🏫💙

This week I’ve been teaching my first year students anatomy and starting to get them thinking beyond simply memorising what each muscle is called.

I want them to understand how the body works together and eventually be able to look at a person and ask *why* something isn’t working as we’d expect.

Where’s the weakness? Is there restricted movement somewhere? Is another part of the body compensating?

It’s essentially the same problem solving process I use every day with my own clients... just with a classroom full of future Sports Rehabilitators watching me now. No pressure 😂

Being able to combine clinical practice with educating the next generation feels really special, and I’m excited to see where this new chapter takes me.

Here’s to helping grow the Sports Rehabilitation profession one lecture at a time. 💙

I’m probably not the therapist for you if you’re looking for a quick fix and I’m completely okay with that 😂

My approach to sports rehabilitation is about understanding *why* you’re in pain, not just making it feel better for a few days.

We’ll assess what’s going on, put together a structured rehab plan and gradually build your strength, movement and confidence so you can get back to the sport or activity you love.

But rehab is a two way street.

I’ll bring the knowledge, the plan, the support but I need you to bring the consistency.

If that’s what you’re looking for, book your 1:1 Sports Rehabilitation assessment via the link in my bio 💙

This one really stuck with me 💙

As therapists, we have to remember how much weight our words can carry.

Sometimes a session isn’t just about assessing an injury, doing some treatment and sending you home with exercises. It’s about creating a safe, confidential space where you can be honest about what’s happening in your life and how that’s affecting your recovery.

I’m never here to dictate what you can and can’t do. I’m here to listen, understand the bigger picture and work with you to find a way forward that actually fits your life.

Because I’m treating you, not just your injury!

🌟 What an end to the season - winning the 100 Regional Championship at Little Downham Horse Trials 🌟

To be honest, I think I’m still in shock…

Sunday Philip Bowles, Boogie & I had a 2am start to drive 4 and a half hours from Bath to Little Downham. I’d considered stabling the night before, but we’d chosen that particular week to move to our lovely new yard in Bath so I didn’t want upset Boogie any more than necessary! Luckily for me, Phil offered to do pretty much all of the driving…but I still remember thinking we must be crazy….

Arrived at the venue 7.30am with so much fog around I almost thought it might be a wasted journey 😅 but luckily it cleared and it was the most beautiful day weather wise!!

A couple of hours and course walks later, Boogie warmed up very nicely for his Dressage. Which was going to be a bit of challenge to keep his focus as the XC course ran right next to his arena, and it was a water complex! I’m so proud of how well he kept his concentration on me. 20x60m championship arena with all the flowers and two different judges! He scored 31 which I was very pleased with!! Especially as he went into the lead at the time 😳

Showjumping was a decent, technical track but the ground was perfect!! He literally felt like he was springing off the ground. And jumped a perfect clear!! ⭐️

Going into the XC I knew we were leading, so added pressure (we’ve never been in that position before 🤣) There was an alternate route early on which I decided to take just to give Boogie a confidence boost for the rest of the track as it was pretty challenging! It worked! But did mean we had to make up time…which he certainly did! He was literally flying, the best he has ever felt and I am so incredibly proud of him 🥹

Clear inside the time! 🎉

So he took the win in his section for the 100 Regional Championship, which is a qualifier for the Nationals next year…held at Badminton 🤩

Cannot believe it 😅

A huge thank you to Georgie Goss Eventing & Sam Rahmatalla, we have learned so much from you two legends!

Thank you to Pauline Holcombe for supporting us and letting me ride your half of Boogie 😂

Thank you Phil, you’re just a star! 🌟 ❤️

Knee pain doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop doing what you love 👀

Whether it’s appeared after increasing your running, cycling more or changing your training, I’d want to understand why it’s started rather than just treating where it hurts.

Control the controllables, get it assessed sooner rather than later and put a plan in place that’s actually specific to you.

Because a little niggle is much easier to deal with before it starts taking over every training session 💙

Confession time... 😂

People often assume that because I work in rehabilitation, I must have everything completely figured out.

The reality is, I’m just like everyone else.

There are weeks where work gets busy and my own rehab gets pushed down the priority list.

There are days where sleep isn’t perfect.

And yes... therapists really are terrible at left and right! (Please tell me I’m not the only one 🤣)

But there is one thing I never compromise on, and that’s how I assess my clients.

If you’ve ever wondered why I’m asking about your hip when you’ve come in with shoulder pain, or why I’m watching you walk before we’ve even started talking, it’s because the painful area isn’t always where the problem started.

The body is one connected system and my job is to work out *why* you’re in pain, not just where you’re feeling it.

That’s what allows me to build a rehab plan that’s actually designed around **you**, rather than just treating symptoms.

What confessions do you have?👀

The answer is...

We don’t guess.

Every follow up appointment is another opportunity to reassess how you’re moving, how your symptoms are changing and whether your body is ready for the next stage of rehab.

Of course, pain is important, but it’s not the only thing I’m looking at. I’m also assessing your movement, strength, stability and function because they all tell me how well your body is recovering.

Think of rehab like climbing a staircase. You don’t skip to the top, you build your way there, one step at a time.

That’s how we reduce the risk of setbacks and get you back doing what you love with confidence.

If you’ve been trying to rehab on your own and you’re not sure whether you’re progressing or just hoping for the best, I’d love to help 💙
