🧱 A LITTLE SNEAK PEEK… 👀

Something exciting is coming to Entire!

We’ve been working on our very own Brick Theory booklet, designed to help us better understand the emotional backpacks we all carry and how these can impact the way we feel, behave and engage with the world around us. 🎒

Every child’s backpack is different, and understanding what’s inside can help us provide the right support when it matters most. 💚

Here’s a little preview of what’s to come… and we can’t wait to share the full booklet with you soon! 👀

🎃 Getting creative at Magdalen! 🧡

Last week, our young people at Magdalen got into the Halloween spirit with a fun papier-mâché project!

Using balloons, layers of paper and plenty of creativity, they’ve been busy making their very own pumpkins ready for Halloween!

We can’t wait to see the finished pumpkins! 🎃

🌿 Another busy week at Father’s Wood!

This week at our Off-Site Alternative Provision, the children have been getting creative, learning new skills and taking on exciting challenges.

🔨 They started measuring and building their very own treehouse, putting their teamwork, planning and problem-solving skills into practice.

🌀 Got creative designing and building marble mazes, testing out different ideas along the way.

🦅 The children had a fascinating encounter with a sparrow hawk, learning about the feathers on its breast and how it flies low through the trees when hunting its prey.

🎨 Painted tin cans ready to create their own tin can alley game!

It’s been lovely to see the children getting stuck into different activities, exploring their interests and building confidence through hands-on experiences.

Another great week of learning beyond the classroom! 💚

💙 Simple play can make a big difference.

Finding activities that suit your child doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes, the simplest ideas can create the most enjoyable moments.

This week, we’re sharing 5 Simple Play Ideas for Inclusive Fun at Home - easy activities that can be adapted around your child and what they enjoy.

From sensory play to crafts and creative activities, there’s something for families to try using simple materials you may already have at home.

✨ Take a look, choose an activity, and make it your own.

We’d love to hear which one your child enjoys most!

🌳 This week at Father’s Wood…

There’s been plenty of exploring, building and learning outdoors at our off-site Alternative Provision this week! 🔨🍂

From woodland walks and exploring the site to getting hands-on with tools, the children have been developing practical skills, problem-solving, confidence and independence all while learning in an environment that gives them the space to engage at their own pace.

Some feelings are easy for children to explain. Others come out through their behaviour, body language or a change in mood. 💭

As the adults around them, we can help children begin to recognise those feelings, put words to them and understand that every emotion is okay.

Sometimes it can be as simple as asking, “What is your body telling you?” or giving them a few words to choose from when they’re struggling to explain.

Our Roots booklet shares practical, everyday strategies like these to help support children’s emotional wellbeing. 🌱

You can find the Roots booklet over on our Community Hub to explore more ideas and resources.

Because supporting children doesn’t have to mean having all the answers -sometimes it starts with helping them understand what they’re feeling. 💜

Supporting organisations across the UK is a huge part of Entire’s impact and feedback like this from business leaders following Matt Ogle’s sessions shows us how Brick Theory is being taken away and put into practice. 🧱

Lauren from Progressive recently shared her experience after putting Brick Theory into practice for the first time in her teaching.

As someone who is newly diagnosed autistic, Lauren reflected on how her own need for clear structure and routine had shaped the way she taught for years.

But Matt’s session made her stop and think: what would I need if I were the child in this lesson?

So, instead of starting with her usual routine, she tried movement first -straight into an activity and something fun. She reflected on the instructions she gave, the questions she asked and how she delivered them.

“Was it perfect? No. But has it got me thinking, reflecting and developing myself? 100%.”

Lauren also took Brick Theory into her leadership, recognising the importance of being honest about the bricks she carries herself and allowing others to help lighten the load.

“It’s not always easy showing your vulnerable side, but life’s too short to keep adding to your load without trying to do something about it.”

This is what Brick Theory is all about reflecting on the bricks we carry, the bricks we add to others, and what we can do to make the load a little lighter. 🧱

What we’ve been up to at Father’s Wood 🌿

There’s been plenty going on at our Alternative Provision recently! 👀

This week was all about getting stuck into farm life with bug hunting, shelter building and, of course, making pizza 🍕🐛🌳

Last week, the children made their very own jam using fruit they had picked themselves! 🍓

Along the way, we worked on conversational skills and problem solving, thinking together about what we might need to make the jam. The children wrote ingredient and equipment lists, measured everything out and shared jobs as a team.

It’s all about learning through doing, building confidence and developing practical skills in a fun and supportive environment 💚
