🇬🇧 British engineering at its finest!

Some venues are just a little bit special…

Today we’re at the home of LOTUS, Hethel, Norfolk, for the Classic Team Lotus F1 Show, celebrating 60 years of this iconic name in British motorsport.

And just look at our Traditional Ferris wheel with its Union Jack artwork against that backdrop! 🎡

A proud day for The Fun Firm.A little rain ☔️ never hurt us 😉

FROM IDEA ➜ DESIGN ➜ BUILD 🎪

Another brand-new attraction has joined The Fun Firm fleet.

What started as an idea on paper is now fully built and ready to go — our new Circus Inflatable Play Centre.

We didn’t want just another standard bouncy castle. We wanted something bigger, brighter and packed with things for the kids to do.

Inside you’ve got:

🎯 Obstacles
🧗 Climbing sections
🛝 Slides
🎪 Interactive play areas
🤹 Plenty to keep them busy

Perfect for:

🏫 School events
🎡 Family fun days
🏢 Corporate events
🎉 Festivals
🎂 Private events

It’s always good seeing something go from a sketch to the finished attraction, and this one has come out exactly how we wanted it.

✈️ RAF FAMILY DAY // ANOTHER BIG ONE DONE 🎡

Friday was all about the build, getting everything in place and ready to go for Saturday… and what a day it turned out to be.

We supplied a full mix of funfair rides, traditional side stalls and event attractions, including:

🎯 3 Traditional Funfair Side Stalls
💪 High Striker
🪣 Ball in the Bucket
🏃 Assault Course
☕ Tea Cups
🧗 Mobile Climbing Wall
🚀 Bungee Trampolines
🚗 Adult Dodgems
🏎️ Children’s Bumper Cars

Saturday opened to a brilliant crowd and everything went down a storm.

Then, just to top it off, we had the Red Arrows display overhead. 🇬🇧✈️

Absolutely incredible to watch… although our ears are still recovering. 😂

Everyone sees the lights, music and rides operating… not many see this bit. 👀🎡

There seems to be this idea sometimes that fairground rides just turn up, switch on and away we go 😂

Not quite.

Before we operate, every ride has its daily inspection carried out and recorded.

Then we have our weekly checks, monthly checks, NDT testing and yearly ADIPS inspection on top of that.

Hydraulics, restraints, electrics, emergency stops, fixings, structure, bearings, platforms — the lot gets looked after.

A lot of this work happens early mornings, late nights or back in the yard, so the public never really sees it.

We’ve always said the same thing…

Looking good is one thing.
Looking after them properly is another.

And we do both. 🔧✅

38 YEARS OF SERVICE… AND STILL SPINNING 🎡🔧

Owning older rides means sometimes you can’t just pick up the phone and order a new part — you have to work out how to save what you’ve got.

Our Spin Ball has been in service for around 38 years, and this time the speed-control cylinder needed some attention. The seals had twisted after corrosion had built up inside the chamber, so we completely stripped it down, cleaned the bore, sanded it back and finished it with wet & dry until we were happy it was as smooth as we could get it.

Then came the difficult bit… identifying the seals.

No markings. No numbers. Several hydraulic suppliers all gave us the same answer — “we’ll have to send them away to be identified.”

Then experience took over.

I remembered Mick from M J Hoses & Hydraulic in Mildenhall. Mick must be well into his 80s now, and one look at the seal and he knew exactly what it was.

“Two days, they’ll be in.”

Two days later… there they were. 👌

New seals fitted, cylinder rebuilt, repainted and ready to go back on.

That sort of knowledge and experience is getting harder to find, so a big thank you to Mick at M J Hoses & Hydraulic for getting us out of trouble.

There’s something satisfying about keeping machinery like this alive. Sometimes 38 years of engineering needs another 60+ years of experience to keep it moving. 😂🔧

Old rides. Old-school knowledge. Still doing the job.

🧼 Even during our busiest time of year, keeping the fleet looking its best is a must!

Sometimes we simply don’t have the time to do it ourselves, so today the big Dodge got the treatment. ✨

A little fact about this one…

🇺🇸 We originally bought our Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty with the 6.7L Cummins to tow our 35ft American caravan.

But after a few van breakdowns this summer, she’s been drafted into The Fun Firm fleet and put to work! 💪

You’d think a 6.7L Cummins would absolutely drink the fuel… ⛽️😂

Surprisingly, in the real world she’s not actually that far behind our 2.4 Hilux.

Big, old-school and built to work. 🇺🇸💪
